All of those players would be stars in the League today, just as they were back then. Point totals might be different. But they still would be top players. - MJL
I don't know if you can say that about Fuhr.
Goaltending is completely different than it was back then. |

I'm just saying. Drop them in the league today and they would tear it apart. I'd love to see 99 skating around out there today. He was beyond a special player and comparing him to Crosby is a bit of a joke.
Unless you want to compare how much I hated playing against both of them but for different reasons. |

The one thing I can agree with is the change in equipment.
I'm going to assume if the Oilers are playing today they can get their hands on current equipment. - mayorofangrytown
off topic, but i saw this yesterday. i like the idea.

Who are the goaltending coaches for today's goalies? I'm sure the coaches wouldn't know anything about playing goal today since they played in the 80s.

I'd love to see the NHL ban the composite sticks. |

The price of these sticks has to do with the demand for them. If everybody wanted wood sticks, they'd be $200 as well. Cool of them to use wood sticks though. |

of course, but i like the idea of drawing attention to the fact that you can still play the game for less. That's important for kids who think they can't because everyone else is using a composite, etc. |

And if Fuhr played today, he'd benefit from the same advancements as today's players have. Talent is talent.

Yeah true. Using a wooden stick kind of puts you at a disadvantage though when the competition gets better. Casually though, this is a great idea. |

Absolutely, no doubt about it.. He would be right there with Crosby and co.
I do think though, that different times breed different players. Crosby back in the 80's would be scary to think about. - jak521
I don't, unless you're saying that today's Crosby (strength and conditioning, equipment, etc.)could play back then. I wonder how he'd do getting constantly hacked, slashed, hooked, and cross-checked. |

I feel bad for the parents who have to foot the bill for little junior's skates and sticks nowadays. I walk through the pro shops on occasion and I'm startled at the prices |

I agree. Gretzky playing today where the game is faster without a red line. He would be scary good. Just don't know if he is going to put up 200 pts and score 80-90 goals in today's game.

Couturier has the flu and flew back to Philly, rather than Winnipeg. I'd guess that Sestito is the scratch. |
