Is it worth taking a stab at acquiring Ryan Whitney? He is a healthy scratch for the second game in a row, an UFA at the end of the season. You know how much Homer hates 2nd round picks. |

I think they need more help on the blue lines then possibly getting Mez and Gus back in the near future. From what I have read, Whitney hasn't been great this year? Is he sick of Edmonton? Or has he just hit the wall? Really can't answer either way. To take a flyer (no pun intended) on a guy in the past who has shown the ability to be a pretty good two-way d-man might help stabilize the blue line this year. Considering Edmonton is healthy scratching him, the price won't be as high as other potential d-man targets.
Bryz has been great this year. I want Homer to do whatever it takes to get this team in the playoffs this year. Once you get in the tournament, anything is possible. |

I'd have interest in Whitney, but it'd be low level interest. If he's healthy and focused, he'd be a good addition. The problem is, if he was focused and healthy, he'd be playing for the Oilers. |

i don't think we make the playoffs so we should just save our assets and get work done in the off season |

I haven't read anything about health issues. Certainly, a player can get fed up with his role on a team and need a change of scenery to get energized. I would only have interest giving up a draft pick or a low level prospect. If he can be acquired relatively cheaply, I think there is a potential good risk-reward. The guy was a consistent 20 minute + in his career.

Unless the Flyers go totally in the tank, you know Homer will pull out all the stops to improve. If Bryz goes down they are cooked, but he is keeping them in every game. |

I'd be happy to toss a 4th rounder at the Oilers for him, certainly.
He has had injury issues in the past, though. I'd definitely want to take a trial on him before going after him as a FA. |

Agreed, he would add an element of mobility on the blueline and Homer could still keep his major assets available to still improve the team if the right deal can be achieved. I think he is as good of a risk-reward (maybe a little better) then Ellerby.
According to cap geek, Whitney has a NTC. |

Nice win. I guess. Didn't see it. Just a few hi-lites.
Why does Chad Ladd always scores on them? |

Ladd's a bear. First goal was a nice pass from Wheeler and Ladd got behind Talbot...second one he was on the doorstep at the end.
Bryz was dynamite, team defense was pretty solid and the PK was very good |
