Then you trade stafford, mcnabb, armia and a first for perry - Buffalo1000
That is way too much to give up for a UFA. And the Sabres are not winning the cup this year, so why bother? |

hmm. tough call. i think locally we may over value him now (guilty) because he is/was looked at as a corner stone ala pronger/chara.
some (me -anyway) are willing to be patient based on the other guys learning curves.
i look at his contract as taking lumps now- but a good deal down the road when he is developed and locked up and making less than most other franchise guys based on the market (i applied for the cbus job but they never called back! weird...). - battelmt
I'd like to think the islanders would be a good example of not doing that too early in a players career. Just saying. |

WHAT???!!! How dare you! You'll get roasted for that kind of talk on a Sabres Blog......
... Am I right sbroads24 - RynoBull
Ill stick up for Sbroads. He has not once said Myers is playing well. Just the fact that he is not the only one pllaying bad. It's really a joke Myers is the flavor of the month. I could think of 10 other things that I would do before getting rid of a 22 year old D man who has shown flashes of being very good. Everyone is just being impatient.
Have you ever even stopped to think that he is playing so bad because he does not care for his coach. Like has been said many times before about other players on this team. Probably not because that would not fall into your view of wanting him to be a bust. |

Probably their most complete game of the year and they couldn't beat the goalie (who played a nice game though...).
Nice effort, they just buried the two mistakes.. |

The only way you make that trade is if you know you can sign him to an extension. That's what agents are for. |

It's just time for a coaching change (which has been stated on here ad nauseum already)..
Lindy is married to guys like Hecht, Ellis, Gaustad, Kaleta and a few others they actually got rid of. His hand print runs too deeply on this roster. Another decision that I question is naming Pommer Captain. Don't get me wrong.. I LOVE Pommer's game and think he may be the most valuable guy on the roster. I just question his leadership. He's too soft spoken. This team has been dying for a guy to lead by standing up and screaming; make guys accountable.
Pommer would address the team by starting with "Guys, excuse me for a minute".... |

he's not a bust IMO just wildly immature and inconsistent, it's obvious he needs to start doing work in the offseason. I just don't get why people are labeling him hopeless yet insert Mcnabb into their future top pairings like it's a guarantee he is not going to struggle or be a bust. I like Mcnabb but he is almost the same age and has no experience compared to Myers, he might very well have the same issues. So what would our D look like then ? |

I think people forget that very important fact that both are the same age! I'm one of those guys that still supports Myers. |

I get the point that it is both Lindy's fault and the players fault, but to know that for sure, the coach needs to be let go, and pronto, that way you can discern who is really slacking and who is responding to a new voice behind the bench.
Also, please no more Brandon Dubinsky.
You guys hate Stafford. Trust me, Dubinsky is no different, especially with the fact that he makes MORE then Stafford. Yuck. |

It doesn't matter if Ruff has lost the team. If you worked at a performance based job and you failed to meet your minimum requirements for such a long period of time you would at least be considered for termination. If we miss the playoffs this year it would be the 7th time in the last 11 seasons. So in 11 years he has met the minimum success required at his job only 36% of the time. Pegula has to stop being such a fanboy. We know Ruff was a Sabres player. We know his first 4 seasons as a coach were highly successful. That has nothing to do with the here and now. - Pierceme69
equating making the playoffs as minimum success required for his job is a little unfair if you're going to then compare his job with others.
in most other jobs its possible for all employees to meet the "minimum requirements". if you assume the minimum requirement for a hockey related job is the playoffs, automatically 50% of the coaches are failing regardless of any other variables.
while i still agree that lindy has to go, i believe its entirely because a change is needed and not because lindy has "failed" at his job. for some reason the message from coach to player just isn't there anymore. by no means do i think lindy is a bad coach, he just seems to have worn out his welcome with the sabres. |

IMO, trading him would be silly. the skill is there, he just needs to work out his "mental" issues. you would never get fair value for him based on his contract and performance, so i would be patient rather than move him for spare parts. |

Yea he is 22 I believe. Myers is 23. People also forget that a year ago after Myers got benched he turned into our best defenseman. Even the media that has been roasting him remembers that, so there is no question whether he is able to do it or not or if he isn't smart enouh, I just think he is immature and actually needs to work hard to be great. The lockout was probably the absolute worst thing for a 22 year old that was handed a 10 million dollar check. |
