It makes little sense unless you can tell me what we're getting back.
If we're getting, for example, Colton Orr back, then, no, it doesn't make sense. You have to face facts. This is a losing team. It was a losing team last year. It was a losing team the year before. They either miss the post season, or may squeak into the playoffs, but are quickly dispatched after one round. Same will happen this year. They look like they are going nowhere fast. I, for one, wouldn't mind some bold moves here.
If it means trading a guy like Ennis, then so be it. It doesn't mean we are spinning our wheels. Like I said, what are we getting in return? That's the question that has to be asked. - Powerslave
I dont think anyone wants our players because of their contracts. We need high draft picks and we are on the fast track to get some. We should be good by 2018. |

Then, and I hate to say it, but we should unload Miller, Vanek and Pominville.
The return could be immense. If we're in rebuild mode, then go all in. |

There are plenty of players the Sabres have that teams would trade for. They just won't give up a King's ransom for them. |

With the new CBA, there's no more weighted lottery.
Each team finishing out of the playoffs has an equal shot at #1. |

We honestly should have seen this coming. We all got distracted by the fact we had a rich new owner, thinking that if we weren't hamstrung by tight purse strings we'd be a lock to win a cup. We never stopped to realize that the new owner is nothing but a Sabres fanboy of the worst kind. He gives an ineffective GM/coach combination guaranteed jobs to be mediocre. Nowhere else in the world could someone keep their job with a 36% success rate. |

I suppose. Darcy isn't stupid, he'll figure something out. I think they need the type of trades Darcy used to pull off in the early 2000's. Like trading 3 guys for 3 guys. Really shake up the team. |

Agreed. I don't think we are 1-2 years away from being a contender.
But its not the buffalo way. We will take are mediocre team and try adding a piece or two and try to be a 7th/8th place team.

oh, i know that. i was just implying that without vanek in your lineup i can't see sabres winning many games.....finish last.....guaranteed 1st or 2nd overall pick. |

Well Sekera and Regehr but they were injured. Weber, Myers, Sulzer, Brennan have all been healthy scratches |

I kinda figured we'd be sitting here years later with no Stanley cup still. I never envisioned we'd be cellar dwellars. I've taken a step back and now find the whole thing amusing. As soon as you think we cant get worse, we get worse. Its comical.

didnt it have something to do with that richards and carter refusing to sign a contract to their teamates saying that they would not drink alcohol that season? |

The way I understand it is that the lottery is only for the #1 pick now, though. After the 1st pick is awarded, the other teams, 2-14 are ranked in order. |

they don't have an equal shot.....every non-playoff team has a shot to move up to first overall, but it's not equal. it will be similar to the way the lottery worked after the last lockout, but will only include non-playoff teams. |

Why?
If they don't make the playoffs, there's a chance, although slim, we land MacKinnon or Jones. How are we f#$%ed? |

I'm pretty sure the lottery for the remaining picks is gone. |
