Why give if your getting back the same? Moving Ennis makes little sense.
- LamontSanford

It does if you are getting bigger and tougher to play against. How is Ennis going to look 4 or 5 years from now playing in a "Lindy"dump, chase & bang system? My guess is his career will be shorter (No Pun) than most because he's only 5'8' and 150lbs.

A team could only move up 4 spots in the old CBA, in the new one (and I'm unsure if it is only this year or not) every team that is in the bottom 14 has a shot to win the lottery. If they get lucky enough to win the lottery they pick 1st or which ever spot they get when they are pulled out of a hat.
- dadeadhead

Oh, from what I was told, only the 1st pick was up for the lottery. The remaining 2-14 spots were based on seeding.

Martin St. Louis says different. I'm not against trading Ennis for some reliable scoring but ROR played (3) years in the league and everyone on here has a b0ner for him. I understand we need some changes but IMO we should not trade the little second line scoring were getting.

I would trade miller now. You are not going to win the cup in the near future. He is a little above average and we should try toget something for him now. Also,is there ever been a better time to trade Thomas vanek. His value at this moment is the best it ever will be. Imagine if we let Edmonton take him, four first rounders, but Darcy would of screwed them up and lindy would have ruined me as a player

One player wont change this team and besides we have the big three s contracts not to mention a starting goalie to deal with over the next few seasons. There aint no easy quick way out for this team.Best thing the Sabres fans can hope for is some chemistry to begin forming on a second line.Im optimisitic with our young Russian.Lindy might as well put him on the second line the rest of the season and see if hes got what it takes. This seasons done you cant make chicken salid out of chicken poopt.

This is a valid argument and the problem with Regier. Can/will he make this big of a move? In my opinion Vanek will be a Sabre for life. I would love to trade Miller because the return could be substantial, especially with another year left on his contract. We haven't won with Miller in 7 years why not explore other options? Will never happen under Regier's tenure though.

Your not getting much for him... Sign him for what he wants or trade him for very little.
- Smittyx36

Or we can just let him rot on the side lines since the season is lost anyway.
Which is what I'm thinking they do.

Slow down. Ennis is no Martin St. Louis. St. Louis has 30 lbs on Ennis and gets to play his style game which is transition and scoring on the rush. Lindy doesn't trust his players enough to allow them to play to their strengths. That's why if they are not going to fire Lindy, get players that suit the system.

as long as any trading of miller involves a younger high potential goalie coming back, i'm okay.

i dont like our goalie depth beyond miller within the system tho.

And that's why you don't trade for Cody hodgson.if we are stuck with the awful coaching of lindy puff ,then Kassian fits the system. It still kills me that REGIER and ruff have been together this long and the both are inept. Ruff if u can call it a system likes to dump and be responsible defensively. Then why do we have Pennis, gerbe, hodgson, stafford, all anti puff. If lindy had his way we would watch Hecht play 25 min a game

Trade for Bernier in a separate deal . Then trade miller and whoever to Anaheim and get Corey perry. Hiller is going to Toronto.maybe stafford for Bernier and stoll

sure, but that requires a lot of trades to work out exactly like you want them too.

i dont think that's how it works in real life.

Disagree. There is alot of trades contingent on another trade happening.you first trade for Bernier.. And make sure Anaheim is on board. Miller will never win here.. Get something before we waste another 6 mill

Vanek, Miller, and Pommer's contract are up after next season.

Miller will be 34
Vanek will be 30
Pommer will be going on 32

IMO only Pommer resigns.

You don't let Miller and Vanek walk for nothing.

- dadeadhead

I like all 3 and I would like to see all 3 stay, but I don't beleive we will get a winning team together here in time for these guys to be effective. That being said, keep Miller for stability in net, Trade Vanek and Pommer at the deadline as rentals. Probably can get a nice return.

I'd say keep Pommer. You'd get a better return for Miller. Pommer would be the best to have in a rebuild situation.

i agree.. I want to keep Pommer...

I would trade Miller to Detroit for Jimmy Howard right now... I'm sure there are other pieces that would equalize the trade...

I would keep Vanek until a team gets desperate.. I think that they are going to see the NHL's leading scoring on a loser team at this deadline and maybe a team throws a desperation trade out there that we can't pass up..

If not.. we will be rebuilding next year with a top 5 pick in this year's draft and if Vanek is still playing hot... he could be the most coveted option on the trade market around the deadline..
