I love the optimism after a good win. Much better feeling today than yesterday. - Stinkfitz
I think that's possible. Very winnable games against Montreal and NY Islanders. NJ is sure to give them trouble and I think they can beat Pittsburgh as well but both should be great games. |

Perhaps Danny and Claude will work better together with Hartsy. I'd def try that. - pyromantic
I think you almost have to. You can't put Danny with Couturier and Simmonds. That's a really non-shutdown shutdown line. |

I'd keep McGinn with B. Schenn & Jake for now. It's hard to slot Briere in - Jsaquella

There should be a team out there with cap space who would trade for Briere and pay him $5 million for the next two seasons. - Feanor
But can you find a place Danny would want to go? I'm pretty sure he has a NMC and he has kids in school.
Also, can you help me win the Silmarils back from Morgoth? |

With Read and Simmonds showing promise together, perhaps put the lines as followed:
19-28-48
15-10-93
17-14-24
26-25-36/9
I've been very excited with Read's 2nd season and truly hope they find a way to keep him long term. Think J Jackson referred to him as swiss army knife last night. Agree w/ that comparison wholeheartedly. |

I think he does have an NMC, although if he gets bought out he has to move to a new city anyway. But maybe financially it would make sense for him to refuse any trade, get bought out, then sign a new three or four year deal somwehere. |

If they can get 6/8 points remaining 4 games on this road trip, that loss in Toronto doesn't look so bad. 8 out of 12 points is nothing to scoff at. - NickTheKid87

Well for a family man, it's easier to move int he summer, as there is no school. He would have time to choose from a handful of destinations, get his children situated, and get to know the city instead of being trhrust into it.
Also, if we're hoping the Flyers make the play-offs, you want to keep him until at least the end of this year. But yes, as much as I like him, he's a definite candidate. |

Bill- do you think Buff could get a game for the elbow/slash to Rinaldo? - Stinkfitz
Didn't look vicious enough to be suspendable but should have been a penalty. |

Can a player be bought out and re-signed to a more amenable cap figure? That would be optimal for both Briere and the Flyers.
I mean, this seems like such a pragmatic solution, I would imagine that it's not included in the CBA, but I thought I'd ask. |

The CBA says that a player that is bought out via the compliance buyout cannot sign with or be traded to the team that bought him out for a calendar year. |

I haven't read the new CBA, but I believe the old one stated that any team that bought out a player cannot resign that player for 1 calendar year. I'm assuming the amnesty clause follows this closely.
Edit ^what he said. |

I've heard many times on this forum that the Flyers would not be allowed to re-sign him.
I would assume the best case scenario would be to buy him out, hopes that he signs a 1-year deal somewhere, and then comes back to the Flyers at a friendlier cap hit. |

The refs from Monday would have called that as a penalty on Zac. Two minutes for being Rinaldo. |

The sad thing with Briere is that, as good as he is, there's no natural fit for him as is right now. I'd like him to play center as he's never had much success on the wing, but Giroux's got to be your #1 and the 15-10-93 line right now looks good. You don't want to take Couturier away from the 3rd line center role, and you don't want Briere on the 4th line. So for now, yes, these lines look about right. |

It's a great problem to have. It would shock me at all to see Schenn on the wing or traded if they want to add a Dman. I can't see Briere being moved with his NMC. This is just me speculating of course. |

What is the word on Wellwood? I would prefer him to Feds on the fourth line. Harry Z had some jump last night. I hope he stays up. |

Especially with Luke playing so well, which may or may not be related to Braydon's presence. |

Thought giroux had a great game. That's what we needed Out of our captain he was excellent defensively all night. Voracek and schenn may have something going here. I just hope McGinn can sustain. He sure seems effective even I'd he doesn't score. Can't wait for knuble to be scratched. Gervais had a bad game. Too soft on his passes in his own zone. Can't wait for Gus to come up and scratch foster. Foster isn't terrible but the pairing with grossman isnt a great fit. I just hope schenn and cooter nail it this year. Briere should become tradable this summer. |
