Was listening to the Michael Kay show here yesterday. It's funny how they think they will be ok, except for catcher, outfield production, third base and pitching depth. They actually say it that way. - hscesq
ok. Is Jeter coming back... 10 years younger? |

So they've got 3/4 of an infield, and that will carry them to a division title? Makes sense. |

Yeah, this is a brilliant statement. He's a run of the mill Cy Young winner.
Didn't take long to figure out that you know even less about baseball, than you do about hockey. And who'd of thunk that was possible? - hscesq
'(frank)'s your problem brah?!
Run of the mill? Oh, so in Howard's little world, a pitcher that doesn't put up Greg Maddux-esque numbers is automatically a worthless piece of poop?
Quit letting your sheer hatred of anything Toronto cloud your judgement and knowledge.

Consultancy firm Brand Finance, which tracks the clout of brand names in the real world, estimates that the NHL will lose nearly $328.2 million (U.S.) in brand value in 2013 as fans spend less money on hockey in the coming year, for an overall post-lockout NHL brand value of $1.56 billion.
By comparison, the NFL has a brand value of $9.13 billion, Major League Baseball $4.4 billion, and the NBA $2.74 billion, according to Brand Finance.
Among the most valuable Canadian NHL teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost $26 million (U.S.) in brand value due to the lockout, down to $141 million, the Montreal Canadiens $36 million, down to $126 million, and the Vancouver Canucks lost $26.6 million in brand value to $89.6 million, the report said.
Overall, Canadian teams saw $125 million shaved off their brand value.
Interesting to see the effect of the lockout.. somehow doesn't seem worth it. |

Steven,
I think what he may have meant is that it wasn't exactly like there were 3-4 guys you could have easily made a case for getting the NL Cy Young last year. Maybe Gio Gonzalez, but after that the class is pretty weak.
That is all.

Kinda. But also that he's a knuckleballer and he's older. He's also going to the American League, a tougher hitting league. He's a great story, but it's not like he's your typical CYA winner. |

Yeah I am a little concerned about that trade. And considering the best pitcher they got (Johnson) is a free agent after this year worries me also. |

To expect sophistication from me is as dumb as expecting a stripper to be asking you to check her for breast cancer. Sure that could be the case, but then why is she wearing a policeman's hat? |

I agree about the AL; he won't go 20-6 this year. Probably something more pedestrian, like 15-10. |

The big talk in Metland is about the catcher they got in return, D'Arnaud. |
