I think we should trade ALL non-Philly players for ONLY Philly players. Build a TRUE team. - NickTheKid87
THAT'S what Hlolmnger and Dee Snyder don't get, they have EGG all over their ORANGE TINTED GLASSES which are on their FACES. This team has no Philadelphia heart, it's all CENADIEN wimps with no HEART. u r rite, we must build a TRUE TEAM. |

Sounds about right for Schenn. Glad to hear Simmonds is playing well. He is the type of player the Oilers desperately need. Of course every team in the league could use a player like Simmonds.
The few games I have seen I like the way the Flyers are playing. Lots of speed. - Sabata
If every team needs a player like Simmonds then our cup runneth over. We have Hartsy, Simmonds and now McGinn filling that role. |

Well, the Flyers could trade one of them to the Oilers. They have great skill but need size and some grit in the top six.

Most of their issues have come from not being able to finish chances and simple breakdowns(a bad or ill advised pass, blow coverage, inability to clear the puck out of the zone)
The nice thing is, if Holmgren keeps the kids together, they'll have a good team for awhile. Couturier just turned 20. Schenn is 21, Voracek, Simmonds and Giroux are all 25 or under. Tye McGinn is 22. Luke Schenn is 23. The "veteran" defensemen like Coburn & Grossmann are 27 or 28, so there's a ton of young guys. |

Nepotism is a beautiful thing.
That said, I saw Luukko play for Vermont in that game against Penn State down at the WFC. Luukko is a pretty big kid. Not sure he's got the skill set to be a top 6 NHL defense-man, but his size almost demands you take a second look at him. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Trade Rumors and Realities, Flyers Quick Hits - bmeltzer
Bill, I completely agree with your take on trades and the Flyers needs. I think numbers 1 and 2 can be solved when Hartnell and Mezaros return, especially if McGinn keeps playing the way he has been. While pretty much every team can use another good puck moving defenseman, they are very hard to acquire and I would hate to see the Flyers move one of their top young forwards for a short term solution on D.
I think a top 5 of Timonen, Coburn, Mezaros, Schenn and Grossmann with Gervais as number 6 and Foster and Gus providing depth is a pretty solid D corp; if they can pick up a better 6th than Gervais, that would be fine as long as the cost to so is reasonable.
Re: Briere - While he is better at center, I don't see a spot for him there once Hartnell returns. My suggestion for lines would be as follows:
Hartnell-Giroux-Briere
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
McGinn-Schenn-Voracek
Fedotenko-Talbot-Rinaldo
What do you think? |
