I just dont think you need to trade "potential for "potential" There will be a team in the near future that will need to shed salary or needs to start a rebuild that will entertain offers for their star player. And when that time comes You will need to have a Blue chip prospect in the deal going the other way. At that time you could afford to give one of said prospects away because you have the other to replace him and you could justify it because you are getting proven star power back
