Meh, I'm not expecting much from the Leafs this year and the next.
It's great we've been winning and buying into Carlyle's defensive system but IMO it won't last.
Not being a downer, just being realistic.
Carolina is a playoff team, we belong with a top five pick in the upcoming draft.

Boys didn't have their legs tonight.

Showed in their execution of simple passes. Kessel's passes would have clicked any other night.

At least Scrivens took ownership of the net. He could perhaps have stopped one more, but he made big saves and gave the Leafs a chance

To me it seemed like the defense was making offensive pushes out of our zone and the forwards were just hanging out near the blue line/neutral zone confused out of their minds.
Scrivens had an excellent game considering it could have been 6-1.

What I like about Scrivens is that despite being scored on three times he still had a very solid 3rd period and gave the boys a chance to bring it back. I thought that was very impressive.

No speed coming through the neutral zone.

Dump and chase didn't have a chance tonight.

I thought Phaneuf, depsite his assist, had a bad game.

I can also say the same thing for Grabs. He's paid to help pull us out of games like this, and he was invisible.

We really missed Frattin's speed, and while Gards is a defenceman, without more natural speed we're not gonna make it through the next week or two.

Brown and Gardiner need to get back into the lineup. Wasn't thrilled with Steckel either. 4th line should have brought a few energy shifts

What a terrible game - Carolina scored a couple garbage goals but totally outplayed the leafs...leafs on the wrong side of the puck ALL GAME everytime Carolina broke out of their zone it was guaranteed 3 on 2 - never seen so many grown men shoot and pass the puck so soft wowzers!!!!

I'd trade Kessel/Bozak/Lupol/Kadri/Grabo/Franson 1st pick for Eric and Jordon Staal I bet you Carolina would turn it down!!!! lol

Right. Scrivens was fine. The Leafs had nothing going on Offensively and had breakdown after break down in the defensive zone.

If not for scrivens it would have been worse.
