I like the idea of a acquiring orielly purely because it potential is untapped and with so.many offensive pieces in the lineup he's more than likely going to explode offensively. I also really like his tenacity and defensive side to his game. Kind of like a Jordan stall.
why would he walk, he loves it in toronto.. Pretty sure he likes it here and is comfortable playing COD all day with kessel then suit up and go to the ACC to play some hackey - Mapleleafs_91

If you could get O'Reilly without giving up Gardiner, would you do it??? - mikeinbuffalo
What's behind door #2 mike....what's the other options....if you say Kadri, I may have to tar and feather you tomorrow...Can't fit you in tonight because I'm tarring and feathering Matt Cooke.

Would definitely depend on what would replace Gardiner in the deal... but I would think with most prospects, if they turned out to have the potential of Oreilly, you'd be happy about that.
So why not trade one for a guys with the potential of Oreilly (Oreilly himself).
I'm not saying he's the answer to our 1C problem, but he may turn into the answer, and that's worth a shot for me.
Because he can get a return for him, rather than letting him walk for nothing over the summer. - mikeinbuffalo
A better idea is to move Bozak, with a prospect, for O'Reilly. Bozak played his college hockey in Denver, so it may be a natural fit. Saying that, they may not be interested in another center. It will take at least a defenceman, in the Gunnerson caliber, and a prospect that is a probable NHL player. It could be a Tyler Biggs or Joe Colborne.
