I was really surprised what he signed for, then I read a few tweets from "insiders" saying that is his last contract with the Habs, will be interesting that's for sure. I think he is a really good player for what it's worth.
- LeafMan

He obviously wants to play for the Leafs.

Who wants to play for a team that has boughten 22 of their 24 cups?

Well, it was a bit weird, but, seeing as he's got 6 points in 7 games, 3 goals, I guess his ego wasn't bruised by it.

I don't like how they want him to tone back the personality. That's what makes him the player he is, isn't it?

Because the way trades work is one team sets a demand and another team must meet it. There is always a negotiation. And the Avs aren't exactly dealing with a lot of leverage: they have a guy coming off a career year who wants a big pay day and is willing to hold out to get it and some reports are saying that he has requested a trade and doesn't want to play for the Avs anymore. THis isn't a team trying to pry a highly valued asset from another team...it's a team that basically has to trade a guy to get something in return for him or he'll hold out all season and I don't know about how it works after that but I assume if he holds out all year he becomes a UFA or at least his value will be virtually nothing.

That's not to say they should take a 3rd round pick for him and be happy for it but it also means that they have to either take less in return than they would receive under ideal conditions, take some bad salary back or give up additional assets to sweeten the pot a bit.

- deerow84

None of which means he'll be acquired for the players you feel you can do without. Other teams will be after him as well. Just saying, Dozzers proposal earlier was probably more in the range.

He is a bit of a loose canon on the ice, though. Which lead to many, many turnovers in the past.

I think they want him to get into the system, and once he's confident he'S got a chance, go for it.

So far so good, I would say.

And it's going down to 64 Million next year.

Summer should be fun. Quite a few teams will have to make room for younger guys who's deals have expired.

This whole thing is so overblown.

Remember how Hall Gill chewed him out after a practice?

Ever actually read what happened? Gill loved the guy - chewed him out every day - it was part of their banter.

And don't get me started on how Toronto fans ran Hal Gill out of town - just stupid.

Well yeah, that's not what I mean though. Talking personality. They didn't like him on tv and all the other stuff.

The Habs did everything in their power to burn every bridge there.

They really Bourque'd that one.

Apparently, he signed right after meeting with Bergevin in Toronto. They met and talked face to face. He then decided to sign.

What? The coach saying "from now on, it's team celebration at center-ice after a win"?

You really think a professional hockey player would leave an organisation for this type of stuff?

Gordie Howe wouldn't sign with the Red Wings until they gave him a jacket.

Who said leave. I said the team Told him to to tone back the personality.

You can have personality and still be a team player. Sounds like they want him to be a drone.
