Wouldn't be surprised to see Gardiner up soon. Up until last night the team was clicking. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
- Feeling Glucky?

Eakins said he was ready, they were probably waiting to see if a dman would slip off. After last night I'd be inclined to say Holzer.

You equated Diaz to Gardiner(actually implied Diaz is worth more). That's what I'm laughing at.

Fraser is playing a regular shift in the NHL. Fraser>Tinordi?

- Feeling Glucky?

Not implying he is better, but

Diaz is on pace for 33 points in 48 games, will he get it, hell no.
but all he has to do is get 20 points in 48 games and that is better then what Gardiner did.

This is the first year that Diaz has been given any sort of consistent ice time as well. Just like Gardiner got last year.

And Diaz is actually responsible defensively.

Neither are worthy of being traded straight up for O'Rielly

You can deny it all you want but there are parrallels between the mighty Gardiner and Diaz

and that is not saying much for Gardiner

Gardiner has more time to develop into something better which is the plus, but it could go the other way aswell, you never know what could happen with a prospect

Not even close to being ready, as you probably know. Seen him play with the 1000 games the Marlies have played the bulldogs this year, he needs to use that reach and size better, players are going outside on him a lot. Still learning and is young, should be okay after another or so year in the AHL.
- LeafMan

i would say two, one more season of seasoning and one season of dominating, if he cant do either of those get rid of him.

You were even higher on Schenn than you currently are on Gardiner. Look what happened with Schenn.
- Pecafan Fan

I'm not even that high on Gardiner, I see him as a 2nd pairing guy, and O'Reilly as a 2nd/3rd line center.

He's big, slow, and wasn't too particularly great in the OHL, and not really all that great in the AHL this year. I'd say alot more than a year, if ever. I don't think that was a very good pick. He's the reincarnation of Hal Gill. If Hal Gill were dead, I guess.

im not trolling, but hasnt gardiner been ready for a few games now...i keep seeing tweets that he is ready to play but the org hasnt called him back up yet?

anyways colorado is going to ask for more than just gardiner straight up...I like Gardiner, but the Avs are looking for more than that i think....

- TheMike12

I'm starting to wonder if it's a case of a roster spot. For Gardiner to come up, would the Leafs have to put one of their D-men through waivers to go to the AHL? I'm guessing they don't want to lose Holzer or Fraser through waivers at this point. I really think a deal is likely at some point. Gunnarson seems to be the most likely candidate to go at this point, to me. What do you guys think about Liles - would there be any interest in him out there?

Gardiner is very responsible defensively. He was even used as one of the top PK guys last year.

You can deny it all you want, but Diaz is a 27 year old depth dman that wouldn't even make the Leafs roster. If you want parralels, he is more like a poor man's Kostka.

He has been sent back to the minors like 10 times, he is having problems making a leafs defense. He was given a chance last year, and he proved he can put up 23 second assists, while tallinng up a -30?

That guys awesome!

- Oilhab

You mean a -2? You are out to lunch if you think he's not on the roster because he isn't good enough...
That is like saying Markov struggles to make the Habs roster.

I would take Gardiner over 8 of the Habs 10 current D. Soon to be 9 when Markovs glass knees blow out.
