Yes the team mascot was injured coincidentally when Couturier got the Flu, and Leighton just happened to be injured prior to a road trip where they needed a backup goalie.

You just can't stash players on IR anytime you want. You have to have Medical documentation, and clearance from the League. The injuries are legitimate. But you can stick to your fantasy story if it makes you happy!
