he took a check behind the net on the Devils third goal. there was speculation that he was hurt on that play but lower body really doesn't seem likely from that check

The question is, if you're going to poop on that, who do you replace him with? None of this I don't know I'm not the GM horsepoop. You want to say it's a bad decision, then offer an alternative and show why it's a bad decision, given ALL the factors...mainly that there's nobody to replace him out there that can be had without gutting the young talent up front.

There's nobody in UFA as good as Timonen. And if you think Ron Hainsey on a 5 year deal at $5.5mm is better than Timonen on a one year deal at $6mm, then I have some bridges in Arizona I want to sell you.

What about the RFA market? Sure some gems there. Only one of them is worth the price of an offer sheet-Alex Pietrangelo-that wouldn't be matched by his current team and either be way too big a cap hit for the player, or way too high a price in compensation.

So please, roll out the alternatives.

I guess it depends on perspective, however just because there isn't a clear alternative now, doesn't mean I have to get strapped to a bad one now. 6 million for an over the hill player is a bad move. They weren't even paying that for a healthy pronger. Kimo's health and play have been on the decline already.

Rinaldo isn't a borderline NHL player. He's in his 2nd Season as a regular. And McGinn looks like a solid NHL player, and isn't showing any signs that he doesn't belong. This is just another case of ignoring the facts, so you can criticize Holmgren. Same way that you omitted that Holmgren got veteran forward help when Hartnell went down. Just as Lamariello did

I like that Timonen is returning. But don't like the deal. But it is for only one year. So there are plenty of positives with it. The kicker is the same people complaining about the deal, are panicking that Timonen is injured and they might have to play without him. And would be the same people who would call out Holmgren next year if he didn't bring Timonen back, and Defense was short.

They've gotten outstanding goaltending and haven't reached 500. Can't wait to see what happens next

Last night's game just proves to m that this team is lacking that little extra something. Bottom line like it or not the devils are a very good team and they have that little extra. They find ways to win.

The Flyers have talent but there are a lot of younger guys and right now a lot of injuries. Homer would be stupid to blow this team up right now. They at frustrating to watch but hard to tell what the team would be like if everyone was healthy.

My big issue is 48.

48 is not a part of the future. You are right though keep this team together. Let them take their lumps in a strike shortened season. Make them understand not everything can be peaches and cream like their rookie years

My point is that, given what is out there, getting a one year deal done makes sense. I doubt that Timonen's price drops if they wait until later on.

A one year deal isn't being strapped to anything.

I don't like the money either. But I'd rather pay Timonen $6mm for one year than any of the other UFA's $5mm, and they might have had to give one of them more than one year.

Don't ignore the monetary aspect of the move. Sure a team could use a compliance buy out on Briere, they don't carry his cap hit, but have to pay him $3,333,333 over the next 4 years to not play for them.

That's an outlier. One team for a period of time played a ridiculous 1-3-1. This League is a forechecking pressure League.
