tossup between rangers and pens on paper, imo. the rangers obvious advantage between the pipes, will shrink when pens eventually start to play vokoun full time.

I just thought their defense overachieved big time last year. I expected most guys to take a least one step back. I didn't think Nash would make a huge difference either seeing as how Torts' system is where offense goes to die.

for me, projecting them to not be as good this year had more to do with their bottom-six, who they relied on heavily in defensive situation, losing fedotenko, dubinsky, anisimov, and prust. i don't think their d overachieved last year. mcdonagh, girardi, staal, and mdz are all excellent in their own ways.

I thought they more overachieved as a unit than individually. But I'm with you about losing those bottom 6 guys. I cited that as being something that would hurt them as well.
