Kear20 I've been crying for O'Reilly. Isles have the pieces to make it happen. Trade Frans in a package. You see how well Casey is playing. - ses111
Sounds good to me...the Islanders have 2/3 of a 1st line even though Boyes is doing well...so I would touch the chemistry. Trading Franz is fine with me but probably hard to move because he signed a long term deal...same with Okposo... |

see I think moving Frans & KO would be easy bc of their reasonable signed deals.

Maloney is a douche. He can't stand the islanders and its awkwardly obvious on hockey night. - Charlie21
It drives him nuts when the Islanders beat the Rangers... |

I think Colorado would take Frans. The cap hit is not bad. O'Reilly really would take pressure of JT. |

As much as I want him he not worth 5 million yet and the money will stop the Isles from getting him even if he did not want 5 million. The Isles will just wait for Strome next year. |

Glad none of you are watching the Edmonton-Colorado game on Hockey Night in Canada tonight. They were talking about how good Parenteau is... |

I'm sure he could but the Isles would justify not adding O'Reilly because Strome will be the #2 center next year. Isles should get O'Reilly regardless of Strome also if Wang does want to sell the Isles making the playoffs this year can only increase the price. I'd just hate to see O'Reilly get away when the Isles have the pieces. |

O'Reilly would improve the team. JT and O'Reilly as the top 2 centers is not bad at all. I'm sure most Isles fan do not expect the Isles to get him. It's talking trade which is always interesting. |

BOYES, 4 GOALS, 8 ASSISTS 12 POINTS
PA 7 GOALS, 4 ASSISTS 11 POINTS
clearly we've made a mistake not signing PA for 16 million dollars and 4 years. Watch as PA's numbers continue to tail off over the season.

I'm also not thinking ROR deserves 5 mil a year. One season at 50 odd points and he thinks he can skip the rfa process and demand ufa like dollars. No thanks.

He really needs to come off the 5 mill. I'm going to try to stop talking about O'Reilly because it's a pipe dream. |

But we are talking about a trade for a player that is unsigned and looking for money in the 4.5-5 million range. Which I dont see a problem with him getting... 4.5 for your second line center.. fine.
But would he sign with us? Would it have to be a sign & trade for him to come here?
What would it cost us in players, Im sure Wang would want to move a high contract to take on 4.5.. KO & Streit would remove almost 7 million... But is that enough talent for his rights?

KO and Frans package with another prospect and pick might get it done and the Isles can call up Nino and Casey takes the 3 line center spot. I would think with JT on the team and the Isles moving to Brooklyn O'Reilly would want to play for the Isles. Damn X you dragged me into talking about O'Reilly . The biggest problem would be Snow trying to get Wang on board to make a deal. |

The second period last night was the best period of hockey I have seen this franchise play since Peca was on the team....literally. I was there in the seats, behind our defensive goal, thinking....they're actually playing defense....like a professional hockey team.
Just an outstanding effort, for about 58 of the 60 minutes last night- only for a couple minutes, right after the fourth goal, they stood around and did nothing. Other than that, they were perfect. If they played that way against Carolina and Buffalo, they'd have four more points right now, guaranteed. If they play that way on Monday, the Flyers will want to leave town after the second period, before it gets any worse. I just hope they understand that it's not really any harder to play that way than it is to skate around in circles like a bunch of morons, and do the former consistently. |

They have world class special teams at this point, although the PK was the weakest area of all three scenarios last night, IMO- they got running around on a couple of them, and that's how the puck ended up in their net. That said, it doesn't matter what Grabner does out there- he is definitely "unorthodox"- but when the puck comes free, he's gone. You always need one of those guys on your PK. |
