I've had that discussion with people. Either that, or they lost the lottery and didn't have Tavares. Imagine where this team would be. - Isles316
Spinning in circles. He is incredible. That's one problem I have with Streit staying. Tavares NEEDS to be captain of this team for himself and the Islanders. Guy is a natural leader. We are beyond lucky to have him |

totally agree, was wishfull thinking that years after JT, that the team would tank just for the sake of getting a better draft pick, so we could have a chance at either a Hall or RNH, but this team wins games when there not suppose to..
we need another star .........almost every team has a 1,2 punch
we have a 1 |

there was alot written about that leading up to the draft. I was scared to death he was going to pick him. Duchene is a good player in his own right but Tavares is just that much better. The guy is in a class all his own, definitely elite and he keeps getting better. He'll be winning a couple scoring titles. On top of it the guy is the best leader this team has had in probably thirty years. |

Streit is who he is...an offensive defenseman who's in his 30s. I don't know, really, what you guys expect out of him. I know one thing, the 20 guys in the locker room must think pretty highly of him to be named captain, so if we're talking 2 more years, I'm fine with it.
I'm also fine with moving him at the trading deadline if need be... - potvin05
Potvin I think the Isles need to do better than Streit. They need to start aiming higher and bringing in better quality vets. I would also like to see JT be captain. |

I hope not either, but in reality, i dont think this team is well equiped to make the playoffs, and not be like last year, and hold onto players for the sake of wishfull thinking of making it. If this team is in position for the last playoff spot, I would rather deal for future instead of trying for playoffs..... - Ur Not Me
I agree. While making the playoffs would be very nice I doubt this team can go far and I'd rather not let guys go for nothing like PA. |

the move to brooklyn has solidified a destination for this franchise, now Wang has to add better quality to roster to build up value, which i think he will now.

Right. I just think we cannot be happy to just bring back the Mark Streit's of the world. We need to do better now. This should not be the same Isles anymore. It should be a whole new world. |

Hate that guy. Im pretty sure the hnl crew cant stand him either - mighty13duck
He looks like an asylum patient who went off his meds and escaped thru an open gate. Grupmy old fart. He's just bitter because he wasn't even the better of the Maloneys and the Isles OWNED the rangers in his playing days.
Even Homer Micheletti can't deny JT. Get used to it. These assclowns won't give props until JT lifts the cup over his head. And PAP with his other arm. |

Streit is still an asset to keep in my opinion but only if he becomes a third pairing defensemen. His ability on the power play is almost impossible to replace.
Defensemen are really hard to get. Look at wade redden. He's (frank)ing terrible, hasn't played in 2 plus years at the NHL level and he got 10 contract offers.
The isles had a top 10 power play last year and their power play this year looks great. So if you can't get a guy to replace that, which you can't then I think it's important they keep him. I'd be stunned if visnovsky doesnt go back to Slovakia |

I would trade Frans if it were for a player that's young and of the caliber of an O'Reilly, but that's about it. Frans is replaceable, but he fills multiple roles for this team, so if you're gonna trade him it has to be justifiable. Plus, as MB stated, his salary and contract are very desirable. - potvin05
Frans is best shootout guy in the league...and great with faceoffs. Even playing more physical since he was given a real contract and reliable on the PK. They're not trading him unless JT's twin-brother (separated at birth) surfaces and decides to play for Islanders. |

I'd like to see Hammer add more on offense and I'm hoping Reinhart can make the team next year and I'd like to see what Donovan can bring. I just think the Isles need to move forward especially on D. Isles have young guys banging on the door and they have to start making room for them and better vets. |

theres definitely some players on this list Isles should target in off-season to improve team......and it will only cost money....
I would trade assets for the likes of Yandle, im all for trading Streit, Viz, KO, Bailey, Frans, Amac, Nabby, Boyes, Grabner to bring in better players...obviously only few would be draft picks, but packages could bring in something better.
we all have to realize that we have kids in the system who might be ready in a yr or 2 and we need to make roster room. |

This! We need to start making room. We need to decide which players are keepers and which goes in trades. Isles cannot put this off much longer. |

our young D prospects are years away, but it looks good.
we need to bring up Donovan by yrs end, and trade for another star quality D-man.
Phoenix is loaded w/D, do whatever for Yandle, hes the best replacement for Streit & Viz |

Adding Yandle sounds great to me. I would think guys like Pedan and Mayfield have to be closer but if they are not ready I'm fine with waiting. |

It has to start now before we have other Nino's starting to ask out. Snow has to do whatever he has to do to get Wang on board with making noves. |

You're forgetting one huge factor....Garth doesn't trade. We would need a cosmic alignment to occur and 12/12/12 has already passed. |
