Whelp, past history certainly would indicate that's what we should expect. Of course we didn't have Barclays on the horizon last time around. This team finally has a 1st class venue to pitch (despite being 2 years away) and the opportunity to play with the leagues next best player. - keaner17
I agree on those points but can't help keeping my expectations real low. It lessens the disappointment down the road. |

I have a hard time believing there was not a decent market for PA. Teams are always looking to add more offense. From all evidence Snow has a real problem making trades. I seriously think the Smyth trade screwed with his head. - ses111
Screwed with Wang's head. Its been shown multiple times, multiple ways. Once Wang gets burned, he tries to avoid whatever it was that burned him ever again. |

Wang has shown that he would spend in the past but without question he's taken a No Frills approach over the last two years. I wouldn't bet on it either way, but since we are approaching one of the best free agent crops in over a decade, I'd say IF Wang wants to make this team an instant contender and create a huge buzz as he approaches the Barclay era, this is the time to do it. - keaner17
The first year he owned the team and not since. Stop, if you were going to bet ten thousand dollars of your money on whether he'd spend to the floor or the cap(or even half way up to the top) next season what would you put your money on? |

I have a hard time disagreeing with this.
I have few friends who are Rangers fans, who's opinions I greatly respect, and they're like, "you're sweating PA Parenteau??" I'm not trying to take away the fact he was a productive player for us but they're kinda right, too. Would he help this year's team? Of course. Could you say that in 2 years? 3 years? ...... - potvin05
Why not? This is the stuff i don't understand? I'm not some huge PA fan but the guy was productive. Why would you think he wouldn't be in 2 years? |

That definitely is not the right terminology to describe why he left the team. He didn't refuse to play for us, we didn't offer as much as another team. Don't blame him. Visnovsky is a good example of someone who refused to play for us(I am aware he is playing now). PA not so much. Though i won't applaud the guy I wouldn't boo him either. I just don't understand the hate some of the guys have on here for him. - Cptmjl
Right or wrong PA was a career minor leaguer a couple of years ago.
Good for him, he got paid. Hes not worth that contract. Snow should have traded him last year. |

Tough to say. I only remember hearing one rumor about PA last season. The universal belief was he'd resign. At the time, it was said that Snow was trying to get a 1st round pick for PA. If that's true, it's no wonder he didn't get dealt but I'd have to believe the Isles would have taken a #2. |

Like him. Don't like him. It won't matter, he's Wang's puppet. He's not going anywhere. - potvin05
That's the bottom line potvin. All I can do is stay away from buying tickets. I do not enjoy puppet shows myself. |

His contract is not gonna be worth it. We have a lot of young guys and potential UFAs I'd much rather see them spend the money on. |

I totally get where you're coming from, but I wouldn't bet on Charles one way or the other. We've made offers to guys like Ehrhoff, Paul Martin, etc. I wouldn't want to bet on that nut job one way or the other! |

It's good to be hopeful but don't you guys get tired of saying the same shat every season with a little variation? These guys don't have to spend and they won't |

If Snow manages another lousy offseason even the biggest Snow fans are going to have a problem defending him. This trade deadline coming up is another huge test for Snow. - ses111
Nah, they will still be his fan. Why not, he has done nothing but draft , the team isn't close to being competitive now and they think his "rebuild" is right on schedule. So what would another year o doing nothing do to his fans. Just that, nothing. There will always be sheeples. |

Because I don't think without the help of Tavares he would have put up close to 67 points here. His final 18 games proved it (3g 5a). Now he's playing with Duschene and is off to a good start but I still don't think PA is any better than a 40-50 point player. Is that worth 4 years and $16 million. If Boyes passes him by and finishes this shortened season with close to a ppg, it would certainly seem like resigning him at that contract wasn't worth it. Especially with Nino soon to come up as well.
I understand the idea that we're a bad team and need to retain all the talent possible, but I think PA was leaving the moment contract talks broke off during the regular season. |

Wang's head was already screwed. He proved that with Milbury and Neil Smith and DP. I though after the Smyth trade Snow would be an aggressive GM. Funny thing is many hockey people still call Snow aggressive |

I think Snow is going to have a lot of questions to answer and deserves plenty of heat from the press regardless of how much fault he deserves. The fact of the matter is we've reached the end of year 5. If we don't manage to at least slide into a playoff spot, Snow needs to address why the proper steps weren't taken and why this team ultimately failed it's goal for a fifth consecutive year.
We all know that there won't be any accountability from Wang after this year, but the heat should be turned up by the public. I've constantly said that folks need to remember this is a completely different type of rebuild that would be slower than your typical five year fix-it, but that doesn't mean the GM shouldn't be held accountable. - keaner17
Why? Five years of drafting in the top five should be enough time, sprinkle in aq couple even decent FA's and blammo you have a competitive team. Snow has not been able to do that and by his own words he said it would be 5 years to be competing for the Stanley Cup. Couldn't have failed worse at this promise. Of course he should be held accountable, it's not a debate to anyone with common sense. |

I can't think of one off the top of my head, let me scroll back through his 67 points and see what i come up with. 67 points, this team doesn't need those! We are just that good |

That is why....we haven't been able to 'sprinkle' in UFA's worth a damn for years! Five years ago we had the worst farm system in the NHL! So we've had to totally rebuild that system without the help of UFA's. If forwards take 2-3 years to develop and dmen take 3-4 years to develop, you can clearly see how we might be a bit slow in getting back.
It's not to say Snow has been without flaw, anything but. Still, no one should have expected our rebuild would be like Philly or Pittsburgh or Chicago |
