Oh I know, we've all heard the same BS from time to time. I've heard more rumours about this team then I can remember or count but these seem to have substance? We'll see, nothing would surprise me at this point. - Cptmjl
We cant be surprised... We're Islanders fans! |

No it's not but the reason they aren't relevant on the island is because they are not competitive and haven't been for twenty years! Them moving to Brooklyn is not going to make them relevant if they are run the same way. Imagine not being competitive for 20 (frank)ing years would do to any team! Not only not being competitive tack on them being an absolute joke managed and run by a bunch of clowns, it's kill any credibility associated with the club. Moving to Briooklyn is NOT going to change that as long as we have this management team and current owner. All the 70's, 80's and most of the 90's proved was that this team can not only be successful but out draw most teams in the NHL if run by competent people. Not this circus side show that made people forget how important this team was to the sport and how important they were to LI. If this team was competitive for 5 years(not asking much believe it or not)they would be a money making machine on the Island. Any smart buisness man could see that, it's not rocket science. - Cptmjl
I agree and you know I've saying it forever about not being able to take the next step until wang is gone. My point was Brooklyn is more attractive to sponsors and the bigger the sponsors you attract the more money you're gonna attract. Of course you have to be winning and with that said, I find it hard to believe that having a solid winning team will bring in the same corporate money whether its Brooklyn or Hempstead. Long Island is dying and it sucks but its the truth |

I just see Brooklyn and see a whole other level of media attention and possible fan attention. I can see a real threat to the Rangers. - ses111
Why? I don't understand why people think Brooklyn is some hot bed of media attention? It's not Manhattan, I know neither is LI but it's not much further. I really don't get the hoopla with Brooklyn. I know LI isn't working presently but that has EVERYTHING to do with our owner nd management and the owner and management before them and so on. It's that bad and thats why every fan thinks Brooklyn is the end all say all for the Islanders and it's going to put them on the map. Again, I don't hate the idea of going to Brooklyn but if there's a choice I'm picking Nassau 5 out of 5 times. Especially if they are going to try to win. This team would be a ridiculous success once again. |

Which also makes them the very thing we despise. Bandwagon fans and media darlings... They may as well move to msg. I dont think the drive to Nassau hurts their ability to draw corporate attendance or media attention. - keaner17
I'm sorry I want in on that. I want my team to be the baddest on the block and the envy of all. Even during the dynasty the media attention was not what it should have been. Why is that? |

Brooklyn has always been a big deal Cptmjl. Brooklyn is known the world over. It's a different sport but look at what happened with the Dodgers. Brooklyn has a passion for sports and even hockey I can see people falling for the Islanders. The Ranger/Islander battle goes to a whole new level as well. To me there is soo much potential good in a move to Brooklyn. |

Seems to working for the Nets. When they were awesome in Jersey nobody outside of jersey cared. Now they are much more popular in Brooklyn and I'm willing to bet the Corporate money they are getting now is much more then they ever got in Jersey even when they went to the finals a couple of years. |

I take a different approach. One of the things that attracted me to the team was the fact that they weren't media darlings. I seriously doubt being a few miles up the road effects sponsorship. Winning will |

I agree it is but this could be part of what revitalizes it. LI is going to have one more giant nail in its coffin when this team leaves, the tax revenue lost alone is going to destroy it forget about the jobs. Brooklyn is not some corporate hot bed. Those luxury boxes that the Garden sells are not going to transition to brooklyn, at least not to the extent that some on here think. If you think any corporate big wig from Manhattan is going to entertain clients in Brooklyn I'm going to say Meh. Hopping on the train or car service to go to Brooklyn. I lived in Manhattan for a large chunk of my life and Brooklyn isn't exactly a desired location for alot of people believe it or not? lol. Honestly, it'd prob be an easier sell then Nassau intially but if and when this team gets competitive they'd have 0 problems doing it in Nassau. |

I wouldn't know? If they never played another game of basketball I wouldn't know or care for that matter. I'd imagine that basketball would be an easy sell in Brooklyn? |

It's location, location, location. It bothers me this team did not get the respect they should have gotten during the dynasty. They were still in the shadow of the Rangers. Enough of that. I want to level the playing field. |

I disagree. Brooklyn is a big deal everywhere. You say Brooklyn anywhere in the world and they know what you are talking about. |
