Agree 100%

Another puck moving D besides Kimmo that can shoot the puck on the PP is a must though. Extremely hard to find but filling that need would greatly change the team dynamic and overall play.

- Chris48

A bigger push should have been made for Subban when he was potentially available, at least for the pp the flyers should be looking at David Rundblad, nothing ventured nothing gained.

I am not convinced that Montreal was looking to trade him.. We would have to have blown their socks off with an offer. Other teams value offensive dmen just like we do.

Couturier was viewed as the top prospect in his class before an early season case of mono led to a slow start. He did rebound to finish with 96 points. He's got offensive skill, just remians to be seen how that will develop.
- Jsaquella

Good point, the sky is the limit for Couturier. If you recall Joe Thornton did nothing offensively in his first year, 3g 4a in 55 games. Sean beat that all to heck. One thing for sure he will never be a scorer if he remains a third liner without playing with top six people. My point is do you really thing Tarasenko or Conacher would have ripped it up in say Columbus? Answer is no.

I do believe if Couturier was offered when things were bad in negotiations and the Habs D with Markov leading the way were getting it done there could have been a deal. Hey, I love Couts but Subban would have been our most popular player and filled our needs in the biggest way, a stud who will play 25 or more high end minutes every day. If you get that kind of return it is a no brainer to trade young Sean and I would still say he will be a great player one day but we got one in Subban. A win win for both teams. I have watched Subban progress from Hamilton in AHL to the Habs and he will win a Norris one day or at least be in the running.

Agreed, I really think they were entirely against any trade that wasn't an outright steal (like Giroux for Subban, something to that effect). It takes two to tango.

I think it would have taken Cooter and a first. Big price, but maybe you pay it..

we have no way of knowing that, but nobody's been a bigger pk advocate here. he'll be a Norris candidate for yrs, IMO.

The way we are playing right now I would not have given up our first but in a normal good year I would have. A Couts and a second round would have been the max I would have paid. Subban is worth the price of admission. His shot is very close to Weber's but he is much more mobile. Obviously not as mean as Weber but will thrown some pretty wicked open ice hits though.

I like his game a lot and agree he'd be popular here. I just think the cost was too high. Homer probably will look at other options as trades.. I don't see any UFA options.

Anyone else wondering why Wellwood isn't back yet ?

Insane speed, great offensive zone entries with possession, responsible defensively and a + 12 in 31NHL games.

D men are dropping like flies and their is a real shortage of quality types out there. Enstrom most like needing shoulder surgery just as Bogosion returns, I thought Rundblad was available but then Schlemko and Morris went down, I think even the teams with extras are hanging on for the long haul.
That being said (just like Bob McKenzie) I would really like the Flyers to take a chance on Rundblad. He is a diamond in the rough and his pp skills would be a real bonus.

Don't a lot of the Flyers live in Jersey?
- BulliesPhan87

Specifically New Jersey fans. Didn't think I had to dumb it down so much

Yep, and I think we the fans have to remain patient. Were a month into the 2nd Season of a retooling of the team. It was not going to be an overnight process. A lot of people were on board with those changes. And were excited for the future. Now when it's time to pay that bill and work through the growing pains, many are losing patience and balking.

Bryz should have had that third goal, definitely, but the chance came from a absolutely terrible turnover by Kimmo. And then Bryz had no chance to stop the GWG goal which happened after Read failed to clear the zone.

Watching this team try and fail to get the puck out of their own zone is taking years off my life, so I think I'll skip tonight's game.

I think he should have made the save on the Zajac goal also.

I don't believe that Subban was ever available, unless you blew them away with an offer. And I'm not sure I would trade Couturier for Subban.

The team failing to clear the puck or generating efficient breakouts and Bryz's blocker side weakness = frustration beyond belief !

I think the Flyers Coaching staff needs to change the Flyers breakout strategy. Teams are game planning and attacking the Flyers on the wall.

Great shot, very good skater. Just a guy without a real position. He's even played a bit as a forward in the past. It's clear that Therrien has zero trust in him.

To me, he's at least an upgrade on Kurtis Foster and possibly Gervais as well.

Could we interest you in a Tomas Kaberle? His rosey cheeks would look great in orange.

Yep. Recurring problem, the word is out and teams are adjusting.
