Call me crazy, but I don't see a team getting blown up. Holmgren realizes he's got a lot of good young pieces and let's face it, if Giroux was playing at 90% of what he was last season, they're in much better shape.
They're on the playoff fence getting very little from Giroux and almost nothing from Hartnell. - Jsaquella
They aren't getting I anything from Hartnell |

poop happens. Have to play with what you have. Players need to step up its that simple. Timonen is ONE player, it takes a team to win. - stveshdy
Thus far they haven't played much like a team. |

I agree. So will find out tonight if its any worse with Timonen out.
Obviously the Flyers would love to have him in the lineup but in reality they dont. Team still needs to go out an play hockey either way. |

Last year they were a team, not really this year. The injuries don't help. The lines keep getting switched. There needs to be more stability and things would probably get better. |

I'd be a lot more happy about I if he was replacing Kurtis Foster instead of Kimmo Timonen - Jsaquella
It would be so awesome if we could transfer Foster's shot to Kimmo.
Clone Kimmo's brain and insert it in Coburn's head.
Generate new ligaments and tendons from stem cells for Mez.

Absolutely, the injuries don't help at all. |

Depending on how long Timonen is out, I am gravely concerned about the blueline group (and calling up Gustafsson doesn't alleviate that much, if at all).
Tonight's projected starting D would be fine for the DEL; in the NHL, it looks like something the Flyers might have had to had to use in the early 1990s. Just swap the names Yves Racine, Corey Foster and Ric Nattress for Bruno Gervais, Kurtis Foster and Andreas Lilja. - bmeltzer
This is eerie. I'm late coming to this party, but after reading your article I was thinking that this must have been what it was like to follow the Flyers the year I was away at college: 1990-91. |

I agree completely. Now if we have a mostly healthy lineup and don't improve at all, I can see some changes at that point. As I said earlier, I would like to see us get into a playoff spot by the TDL and see what moves Homer can make. |

It woul help if guys simply played up to their abilities. The offense has been to blame for a good portion of the defensive woes. |

That's just it. The forwards are not getting good results in all three zones and neither are the D. There is sporadic success, but that's the problem - it's too sporadic.
Bryz has given them a chance to win in just about every game. |

I can't answer that. They looked a lot better after the third game, but there's still too much simple execution not being made. Passes are better than they were the first 10 games, but clears are still horrendous at times.
I hope it changes tonight - and that the change becomes the new "standard" and not the exception. |

Still can't believe he did that. Score two goals, I mean. Would've thought he would be acquired this past offseason for that alone.

True
Defense hasn't been helping either in generating offense... A good first pass and a cohesive breakout does a lot for a team. But if you don't have the personnel or skill it's hard to adjust |

That Lavi stays or goes?
If he does leave, please no more retreads. Get a fresh face with a new approach. Cut the dinosaurs loose and draft/acquire for speed. Bring in more lean hungry kids and make it exciting again. |

Love, love, love Gusty. I really hope he blossoms into something more than what has been projected and will probably happen: 3rd pairing Dman. |
