Still can't believe he did that. Score two goals, I mean. Would've thought he would be acquired this past offseason for that alone.

That Lavi stays or goes?
If he does leave, please no more retreads. Get a fresh face with a new approach. Cut the dinosaurs loose and draft/acquire for speed. Bring in more lean hungry kids and make it exciting again. - 77rams
When it comes to adjustments Lavi reminds me a lot of Andy Reid. |

Love, love, love Gusty. I really hope he blossoms into something more than what has been projected and will probably happen: 3rd pairing Dman. - Flyskippy
I'm with you on that. I think the kid has a chance to be better than a 3rd pairing defenseman. |

Hear, hear! I really hope to see this again in April:
- Flyskippy
I'd totally do it if we could get him back for a pick or something. As of right now, Dallas is in a playoff spot though.
On a seperate note, Lehtonen is playing really well for Dallas. I was in favour of getting him a couple years back, but he was always getting hurt. |

Meh. Lavi's won a Cup. I think his being second-guessed is overblown. |

True
Defense hasn't been helping either in generating offense... A good first pass and a cohesive breakout does a lot for a team. But if you don't have the personnel or skill it's hard to adjust - Chris48
That falls on the coaches...NJ doesn't have a ton of great puck movers, but their forecheck is relentless. |

I hate having to root for Dallas to plummet because I've always liked the Stars (thanks to Mike Modano), but better them than us. Sink, Stars, and give us Jagr (please). |

Need to change to soccer style breakouts and go for headers, etc. |

Thats true he did win a title.
I don't put the blame all on Lavi. The GM didn't do a good job this past offseason. He took chances but came up empty. In the end the team lost more than it gained.
Still think Lavi could be better making adjustments. |

I would, but I do find myself second guessing him quite a bit. |

No, but it doesn't take Scotty Bowman to sit guys that can't seem to get it through their head that Brodeur is good at playing the puck. |

Agreed. I want to sing "moves like Jagr" everytime he scores again.
I know it's been discussed, but would Whitney from Edmonton help us at all? |

I suggested him around 2 weeks ago
I don't see why not...manageable contract, if I remember correctly, along with above average offense....
If the price is right...go for it. |

The cap hit would push them past the upper limit, so they'd be spending LTIR exemption. The other issue is he might not be better than Gustafsson right now. |

Timonen still not ruled out, looks like they're going to wait and see how he feels after warmups. |

Well, he's a puck mover right? I think he's a UFA soon too.. can't with this patchwork D. |

And that's really where this team misses Carle. He's a player that played over 20 minutes a game. And had the ability to make precision passes while under pressure of distance to the forwards to start the offense the other way. Occasionally he would turn the puck over, but his good plays outweighed the bad exponentially. There's a reason why he was one of the top point producers for defenseman at ES in the entire League. He was so under appreciated by many. So now that they're missing that element. The Forwards have to adapt and come back deeper. So the passes are shorter, and less riskier. Which also would put them in a better position defensively, if there was a turnover. And it's either the players aren't doing it, or the Coaching hasn't adapted and changed in that area. Go watch LA in the Cup finals last Season. Look at the short crisp passes they made in their breakouts. |

I was upset when we lost Carle anddo believe he got a bad rap here.. I thought Tampa overpaid him, but seeing how coveted dmen of his skill are now, maybe he isn't. |
