Why would he veto a legit chance to win a Cup with a contending team? Maybe he would, but he seems to me like a guy who wants to win. - PLindbergh31
Probably doesn't want to be separated from his family. His kids have always been cited as a reason he wanted the NMC. |
|
|
|
Timonen also has a NMC, so he could have veto'd any trade. - Jsaquella
Why would he do that. Well, unless he is going to Columbus LOL.
Time to tank and stockpile those picks |

Good question. Probably hurts it somewhat. Not sure there would be a lot of suitors for him at a 38 years old at 6 million dollar cap hit. - PLindbergh31
I'm totally ignorant of the number. Is that what he was signed for for next year? |
|

I want this team to stay the course but that's impossible when you have Ed Snider as the owner. - KGBflyers10
Can't blame the guy for wanting to win. |

Staying here will also keep him separated from the Cup. |

Homer is a (frank)ing moron. Clearly paying for past performance. Or he will retire, keep the $$$. There is a cap hit on that too, though, right? |

Yeah... Refusing to move them for weber might have been a mistake in hindsight.... And i was in the 'dont do it, call their bluff' camp. I think its a mistake if homer digs in stubbornly and says 'well we wouldn't trade them for weber so why would we trade them for someone else.". Fact is we will not get weber anytime soon .... So who can we get instead? Subban, Yandle, OEL, Pietrangelo...
We are so deep at center it makes one of schenn or coots tradable. Holding onto both will get us in trouble down the road (like staal with Pitt's 3 centers - eventually schenn and coots will both want more minutes and to get that big payday) - moylander
I wouldn't have moved both for Weber, along with the rumored number one pick.
I'm not closed minded to trading one or the other for a top defenseman, but I doubt the ones I'd be good with moving them for are available.
I wouldn't trade Couturier for Subban or Yandle. I'd probably be OK with moving Schenn for one or the other. I doubt St Louis or Phoenix would consider trading Pietrangelo or OEL for Couturier right now, either. |

Not necessarily. People seem to forget that Carter and Richards both struggled mightily during their second NHL seasons, and the team went to the ECF the next year. |

It's a little higher number than most would like. I'm more concerned with his level of play than the cap hit. He looks like he's starting to decline. He hasn't played very well this year. |

Agree with this assessment (although I do like PKs speed and athleticism, even for coots).
Between coots and schenn I think I like schenn better for lavy's system. IMO he is faster and more physical than coots. I see getting more offense out of schenn..... But the smarter more disciplined all around game from coots. By comparison If we were the devils then coots would be the better player for the system. |

briere's looking like a sure buyout right now, huh? good guy, i'd miss him, but... - isaiah520
Everyone should relax and not hit the panic button just yet. Once Hartnell and Mez return, things will look very different IMO, well...I hope. I don't think a coaching change, a big trade involving Couts or Read or talking about buyouts is realistic until the team plays 5-6 games with everyone valuable in the lineup. |

No, its a one year deal. If Timonen retires, it comes off the cap & he also doesn't get paid.
Unfortunately, with the way the FA market is, Timonen at 1 year $6mm will probably be a good move. I could see somebody giving 3 years to Streit at $6mm or 5 years to Hainsey at $5.5mm or something like that....it'd be horrible if the Flyers did that. |

I think in a few years, Couturier could be a 25 goal scorer, with 60 points and be a Selke finalist. Every system needs that kind of guy |

I buy that the team should improve when Meszaros and Hartnell return. The thing is, if you are talking about this year the Flyers barring going on a winning streak before these guys return will probably be buried in the standings.

Really? I hadn't heard that. Tomorrow's game isn't going to be easy. Fishsticks are coming off wins vs. the Rags, and Devils. |

I think Hartnell is good to go this week (Wed.) and Mez not too far behind. We win 4 out of 6 and we're probably tied for 7/8th seed. |

No doubt. Just wish he was faster and more physical (especially with his size). He's still young though. I still prefer schenn over coots if lavy were to remain the coach for the foreseeable future... But its splitting hairs since they both will be very good in their primes. |
