Isn't it nuts how a hit like that could send a player to the hospital? Hell...the dude didn't even fall down right away, let alone start convulsing.
Then you see guys like McGinn get up and start skating the next shift after getting absolutely hammered....
Shows that every body is different, and REALLY shows the fine line between getting hit and getting hit "just right".
Hope the kid's ok. Read he was seen moving arms and legs. That's good news. |

There is a bumper crop of potential top six forwards and even potential top 3s in the 2013 draft. The defenseman crop is average, beyond Seth Jones (which doesn't mean there won't be some future standouts or even someone who could ultimately be better than Jones; just no one else with projected franchise defenseman tools at age 17).
As such, unless the Flyers draft first or second but are still within the top 10, there is a very good chance the best available player will be a forward. - bmeltzer
lets say the flyers finish dead last, what are there odds to pick first, it is still hard to stomach our 07 season finishing dead last, losing the lottery to get kane and then he ends up scoring the sc winning goal against us, so all we have for being the worst team that year is luke schenn. |

No idea on the odds, I dont even think the NHL has agreed to something yet.
I do think Columbus, Colorado, Washington and Florida do finish lower overall in the standings. In a worst case scenerio. |

They have, it's a weighted lottery, but all non playoffs teams have a shot at 1st overall |

In years past, the odds of winning the lottery as the worst team in the league were 25%. The odds of having the first overall pick as the worst team in the league were something like 48%. |

Just looking up other possible draft targets.
Nikita Zadorov lists as 6 foot 5 and 230 pounds. Defensive d-man, with offensive potential. Projects to be possiby as high as #5 pick.
Rasmus Ristolainen is 6 foot 3 and 200 pounds. Currently projects to be around #10. Great shot, and more offensive potential than Zadorov.

Again, regarding possible D-man targets for the draft.
Morrissey, Nurse and Pulock all rank as mid to later round picks.
All have pretty good size, and offensive capabilities.
If the Flyers do not get Jones, they still have the option to take a hell of a d-man. |

2 to keep out for, that for sure. Others to look at are:
Darnell Nurse, Ryan Pulock, & Josh Morrissey |

These guys could potentially cure their future defense woes in one fell swoop in this upcoming draft... if we keep in mind Luke Schenn is at a ripe ol age of 23 or so, we could have 2 solid kids on the team out of this draft with Schenn around as well about 5 years from now

Now we know for certain there's a $6mm cap drop coming. - Jsaquella
Yes. But I think we'd be having the same conversations if the ceiling didn't change |

I think I remember you saying you were high on Morrissey right?
I dont pretend to watch a lot of junior games, but from what I have read the guys I previously mentioned all have pretty high potential.
Nurse has a 6 foot 4 frame to fill out, but he and Pulock seem to be able to bring heat from the point. |

No need we have Foster, Lilja, and Gervais. This team is deep on the blueline. |

Not sure about that. If the cap didn't drop they Flyers would have ample cap room to add players. |

When his team was hit with the injury bug he really stepped up his game & scouts took notice. |

Out of the mid range guys being Morrissey, Pulock and Nurse any have the ability to step in right away you think?
I'd love Ristolainen. |

I really think outside of Jones all will need some more time to continue their development but I am okay with that & expect that with whomever they draft. |

It wouldn't kill Jones to spend another year in junior, either. Why rush? |

I ask because if the organizarion drafts a d-man I expect them to give him every opportunity to make the big club.
They aren't the most patient. |
