Having a day off between games is not though. |

Your boy Gusty played 20+ minutes. Looked good. - PLindbergh31
He gets a long look now if I were in charge. |

Gustafsson is a better option than Foster, Gervais, and Lilja. I don't think there is any question about that. - PLindbergh31
He was second in TOI only behind Coburn. |

The reason for that was the score of the game. Timonen basically sat in the 2nd half of the 3rd period. But he played well today. |

One really encouraging sign is the PK has improved dramatically. |

Good win for the Flyers. Hopefully, this can be a game to turn your season around. Hockey in the Atlantic is that much better when the 4 teams (Islanders don't count) are playing good hockey. See you guys Wednesday night. |

Finally looks like this team remembers how to kill a penalty. Much, much better- light years better- than this time 2 weeks ago. |

I put him in the lineup and leave him in there. Even if he struggles.

Everyone was great today. Hopefully it's a performance they can build off. I believe if they can beat the Pens Wed night it could be a turning point in the season. |

So you think they changed the defensive system for today's game, then what they played against Montreal and New jersey? - MJL
When Philly tries to play defensively the forwards collapse deep in theirZone and when there is a loose puck that appears they are going to get to they gang back til they full control. Things like that. Today philly was flying out of the zone as soon as they got control or looked like they were going to get control. Ny had plenty of chances but they looked off and tired. I like the Attack style but against players like Crosby they seem to bury most chances when we give puck up |

Without a doubt. This kid should be on the 3rd pairing and he can eat up some minutes if needed. He has some offensive skills and he can skate the puck. |

Don't want to be negative but I get the feeling the Pens make a statement. I hope I am wrong but the Flyers need to prove to me they can play consistent and not a one game fluke. |

100% agreed. No need to look for next kimmo. Play gusty let him learn from kimmo. If gusty can improve a little defensively he looks like young kimmo |

The Flyers did not play any differently defensively then they did in the last few games, or for most of the Season. Most top teams have their forwards on the strong side drop down low in the defensive zone to support the puck. That has zero to do with the Flyers struggling to score. Today they won puck battles, got to open areas of the ice. And they made plays with the puck. The bottom line is that they brought the fire, and energy to the ice. That is why they scored goals.

Also nice to score early in first 2 periods. Tired of getting scored on early. |

Well he's not going to play with Timonen. And comparing him to Timonen is an exaggeration. He's likely a 3rd pair defenseman in this League. |

Throw in Meszaros and this blueline looks pretty darn good compared to some of the projected lineup a couple days ago. |

Yes flyers had lots of jump and ny didn't show up but Philly absolutely played differently. Theres a huge difference between looking to push the puck right away and making sure you stay back to defend. Today they looked to push it against nj they looked to defend. Maybe it's just a matter of finding a happy medium during the game is what they need? Like during the Boston series when they came back from 3 down. |
