Say we trade cooter and a 1st for subban. Essentially we will have traded Carter and a 1st for subban voracek cousins. DEAL!!!!!! Say we trade read and 1st round pick for perrY at tdl. DEAL!!!!! Just examples. Our 1st rounders not going to be high anyways. I see your point but our core is sooooo young and more ate coming. That is like our draft anyways. If we had older team I'd agree with you see my point - SMS4016
I think Read is underrated. He comes cheap and can play all over. I wouldn't trade him right now.
I do understand what your saying but I don't like trading away all those #1's

If you want to have that player as a backup to groom for when Bryzgalov is done, I'm all for that. But to buyout Bryzgalov and rely on that unproven young player. No thanks. Not the way Bryzgalov is playing. There is no reason why he can't continue to play at a high level for another 5 years, if not longer. That is an eternity in this League. If the young players on this team aren't developed by then, they never will be. - MJL
If worse comes to worse bryzgalov devolves into last year. even then I still think its good enough albeit substandard considering the contract, to remain competitive while grooming his replacement.

I just watched game 1 of the 2001 NBA Final the other day. Iverson was unbelievable. That Sixers team had no right even winning one game in that series against the Lakers. Iverson was a warrior. - PLindbergh31
ive watched pieces of that game over the last few weeks too haha
a warrior no doubt - and perhaps the most purely talented guy in the league - but no team could win playing the style he needed to play to have success.
as amazing as that game 1 was, you forget how much of a mess that team was in terms of the half-court offense. AI just running around all over the place coming off screens and chucking up shots.
Buy out Bryz now while he's playing at a very high level? Why do that? If they did that at years end, who is the goalie next year? - PLindbergh31
As stated earlier teams have excess we have centers some teams have goalies some have forwards some have dmen. It's not were trading for a star in his prime we are trading for high prospect for down the line that can play and grow with core now. Won't cost as much salary or trade wise as a Cary price fir example. Follow?

I just wanna take this opportunity to say, I;ve been taking crap from people in the ol' RL bout my support of the friendly neighborhood crazy russian goalie. So today was a nice day at work. And throwing down Smirnoff to commemorate .

There's nothing to follow. You're weakening the team at a key position. And giving away top assets to do it. Follow?
You trade top assets to fill needs. Goaltending is not a need.
Which wouldn't be a terrible approach. You have a cheaper guy that hits his prime the same time as most of the young core.
I would however use any available pieces to bring in star level talent for the back end.
Nothing wrong with an older goaltender, I was a huge fan of Roloson up until the end. The Flyers technically also have another season to make a real decision on Bryzgalov if I am not mistaken, regarding buyouts that is. For now, I think you keep the crazy bastard. - flyer_nutter
That's fine along as trade otr buyout briere and move schenn or coots and get the winger and dman. Then go after the goalie. Vokoun went cheap to Pitt. I'm fine with that. Get young goalie with a cheap vet to mentor him

The last time I drank that poop I was in a bar dancing.
After the first few I ended up pouring more of it on my shirt and the floor, than in my mouth.
For some reason alcohol doesn't do it for me anymore

do you have a crystal ball or something to say which prospect will actually blossom?

I know. But he had to play that way with the talent, or lack there of he was surrounded with. Iverson had to take 25-30 shots a game and score 30+ points for the Sixers to win games. Eric Snow, Mutombo, Aaron Mckie, Eddie Jones, Tyrone Hill is not a very good surrounding cast. Iverson never played with that other stud to get over the hump. If you look at all the NBA teams that have won Championships almost all of them had an all-star caliber second option.

Won't they still get the big salary when they need a new contract?
