Buying out Briere will free up some money. Not sure what they will do once they have to pay Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier. Hopefully by then some contracts come off the books or they will have to move some guys. - stveshdy
there's plenty of things that can happen without drastically altering the landscape of the team or buying out Bryzgalov. Giroux, Schenn and Couturier are all RFA's in a couple years not UFA's so there's plenty of leverage for homer to work with. Also Kimo is almost certain to come off the books. This guy is driving the Bryz hate train nothing more nothing less.

There's a rumor kicking around that has the Flyers trading Couturier+ in a deal for Ryan O'Reilly+
It's an interesting deal if they're talking about adding Erik Johnson - Jsaquella
I really do think Couturier's days are numbered. not because I dislike the player but simply, there's only so much runway under the cap. That and the FLyers need a dman. I'm not so worried about this Perry esque winger being such a necessity.
Edit: if we are going to move Couturier, let's get a stud dman on a level above a Coburn please.
I don't see anyway to get at the least top winger top dman without trades and buyouts. Cap going down we only have 2 mil open have to fill out roster please we have g schenn coots contracts Coming up so how the he'll are we going to even get one piece? - SMS4016
Nobody's saying that they can do it without a trade or buyout. What most of us are saying is the trades you propose are short sighted and not good.

Why trade Couturier if cap room is an issue? He doesn't clear much. Move Voracek or Simmonds.
Who is going to replace Bryz then if we buy him out?
Why do we need a Kane-type of player? We need a winger for Giroux you're saying?
Wouldn't you consider getting a franchise D-man, or #1 d-man more important than another forward? - KGBflyers10
Right now I'd say # 1 dman and #1 winger are tied for most needed. Because core is to young for a cup now. If they a little experienced I'd say the dman . I do agree we could win a cup with bryz if we had winger dman and more experience like 2010 team bryz on the downhill with that contract should scare everyone in a few years.
I'm just waiting for someone to reveal he's actually Ripped Fuel and tell us it's been his dream to troll us all - Jsaquella
Was thinking that earlier. Has to be an alt for Ripped or some other troll. And today is an impressive body of work for whoever it is - he started strong and kept building up the lunacy until he finally jumped the shark with these last few. I feel like Ripped would be proud of him.
Who's upside is higher Couturier or O'Reilly? - stveshdy
Personally, I think Couturier's is a little higher. But O'Reilly is more along in his career, and thus far they have been remarkably similar, when you delve into advanced stats.
The big hang up for me is, Couturier has a modest salary for another season. O'Reilly is holding out for more cash, and will likely end up with a significantly higher cap hit than Couturier this season and next. And by significantly, I mean 4 times as much. At least.
I'd want it to be a bigger deal, where the Flyers get a defenseman from Colorado for it to be worth it to me.

How would they take on another (big) contract? Adding a defenseman will cost even more unless they part with one of their own in the deal also.
