I think your idea defeats the purpose. WHy not groom a replacement while riding out Bryzgalov's contract? - JoeRussomanno
5.6 mil cap hit 8 years for goalie that has maybe 4 good years left. Take briere for example. Waste. Now your all talking bout resigning players. And on top of itGetting players. Really??? Umm good luck. That's why we lose players like gagne no CAP room!!! Whatever the cap goes up (hopefully) is going to players so were always in same boat. Were lucky if we have 5 mil in cap space to work with and if we do we sign players to fill out roster. Same story. We get saved by having a pipeline of a read bobrosky etc. And those players aren't even drafted. Their unsigned fa. So beyond the 1st rounders do we need all these picks? |

My wife and I were watching DVD's when she got tired. I said I wanted to see if Tron: Legacy was still free on demand. She told me to look online and here I am. I've got it and electronic piece I need in my cart, but I need to add $2+ to my order to get free shipping on the electronic part.
So, I'm browsing there and fiddling here. You know, the usual. - Flyskippy
I hear ya...wife & I are watching Paul for the 4th time. End of a long day. Drove back from the Poconos, both kids have upset stomachs with the bonus of free Hershey's sauce dropping out of them and we had to assemble their beds when we got home...now we're at the screw it stage

I can't see moving Couturier - a guy who fell into the Flyers' laps because of mono and instantly became a go-to defensive player for the Flyers last season. Shutdown centers are about as rare as #1 dmen - and can stymie just as many chances on the PK and at even-strength.
It's just like Eaglesitis has overtaken the Flyers' fanbase (woe is us!) with the losing record that we're willing to undo the good of the last few years (meaning, drafts and young acquisitions such as Matt Read) because of 1 bad season that may turn out better than it's started. - Flyskippy
The one way I see it-and this is just going off Ren Lavioe mentioning the Flyers had inquired about O'Reilly and the Avs countered with Couturier-is if they got ROR(who would replace Couturier's two way game) and Erik Johnson in the deal somehow. |

You keep making these statements about Bryzgalov, such as he only has maybe 4 good years left. The biggest issue is this bias you have against Bryzgalov and failing to recognize that he is a very good Goalie. How is Briere been a waste? One of the top playoff producers of recent times. Since the Flyers lost Gagne, what has he been, and how was it a big loss?
The Flyers have always iced a quality team in a Cap environment. If Bryzgalov continues to play as he is, his Cap hit is a bargain.

I get that. It's just that the Flyers are cap-strapped enough, as it is, that I'd rather see them squeeze through next year's reduced cap and come into 2014-15 with cap space aplenty to make some real noise. |

It's looking like a good draft. I say keep the picks. |

This is still going on, eh? - Flyskippy
Yeah the same enrich that won like his 1st 11 starts when miller was injured. When coach plays starter 25 games in a row what do you expect? It's like asking Boucher to won a game. I'm just saying there's plenty if good young goalies out their with tons of potential waiting to be had. Me I wouldn't mind going that route if we hit great and save bryz cap hit for next8 years if not spend some bryz mine on a goalie. They are there every year. Didn't think id get so much resistance to the idea. |

They could also be inquiring to jack up the price tag on the rangers, another team rumored to be in on ROR. Not sure why they'd do a center for center swap... Doesn't add up for me. |

Yea they are there every year. Then what took so long for the Flyers to finally get a good Goalie? And now that we got one, let's get rid of him!

Agreed - even when his defense corps (including the rusty Kimmo Timonen) was making a lot of mistakes, Bryz was quite the mistake eraser in the first 10 games or so. |

I'd prefer that. I'd be OK in theory with a buy out of Briere, to pursue an upgrade on winger for Giroux, partly because the $6.5mm would help in re-signing Giroux, Couturier and Schenn and partly because they have 5 guys expected to be on the team next season whose best position is center.
But mainly, I want to stand pat. But I'm also open to youth for youth trades, if it makes sense or fills a real. |

Easy, dude. I was making a sweeping comment about the same old trade proposals I saw when I left work at 4. I don't care much about or for your trade proposals. By all means, carry on. I won't be responding to them much. |

Well, the news is that they asked about O'Reilly and were told that it'd cost Couturier. Doesn't mean they offered Couts.
O'Reilly, IMO, is a really solid young player, very similar to Couturier |

Briere has been huge!! Disappointment overall. Great in playoffs yes but WTF regular season big no show for the most part. I'm just so tired of their act. They get pronger But go with Boucher and 3rd string leighton in goal??? That cup was ours. Boucher and leighton really. I love the fact they make moves and ice competitive teamBut Boucher and leoghton??? And if you remember Philly could of had bryz when Anaheim put him on waivers! I wanted him then for that team but no I think let's go pick up leighton. Frustrating. |

Agreed; they miss Carle's skill set. You can't expect the guy to do what he did in Game 4 vs. Boston in 2010 (4 assists in the game) every night, but to get that sort of a passer from the point - someone who has to be respected coming out of the zone because he can both skate and pass out of the zone well - would go a long way in spending less time hemmed in their own zone and more easily gaining the O zone. Plus, he sure blocked a lot of shots. Not as many as Timonen and he didn't get nearly as banged up, but he still blocked a lot like Desjardins - with his stick. |

Then find another team.
Perhaps you forget, as most angry/sour Philly fans have, that the Flyers signed Emery who was VERY GOOD until his necrotic hip happened. Then, an emergency situation was warranted and Leighton was brought in along with Peter Laviolette in the midst of a swoon. Leighton nailed down the goaltender position and helped the team pile up some points until he was felled by injury. Boucher came in and helped clinch the playoff position away from the Rangers.
All this "I wanted him" before talk is meaningless without context. Who were the Flyers goalies when Anaheim waived him? What was their cap situation? |

No fa dman on market that fits that bill. Come to think of it Teams signed a lot of those type players to longer term contracts before CBa last year. So we better make a move soon cause were screwed after kimmo retires. Great warrior but Starting to look like not much left in the tank. Coburn as our number 1? Even scarier than bryz contract. Hope you guys are right about bryz gonna be needing him big time. |

Flyers should have never let Carle go but they went after the big fish in Suter. I'm okay with this defense to be honest--the forwards have to do a lot though in back-checking. That's huge.
