Wouldn't exactly be favorites to win the lottery in a ninth place finish. - BulliesPhan87
No, I know. But it would only be fair after what happened with Kane in 2007 (and then in 2010, ugh.) And there are two other Defensemen projected to go in the top 10 outside of Seth Jones that the Flyers could do with.
Columbus must be loving how much the Kings are struggling this year since they get their #1 pick as part of the Carter trade.

Bingo. Perry is obviously the top choice this summer but there are a lot of good fall back two-way top-6 wing options out there beyond him. - OrangeBlack27
How about a top 5 FA winger list? |

Just a little bit of advice here. Ignore what your friends say. And listen to what the experts say. You'll be much better off. - MJL
There are many misguided and jaded experts as well.
Just read everything by Meltzer except his take on Ryan O'Reilly. |

Sorry for long rant but it's just so fustating dealing with same crap every year. Worse part is hearing my sabres fans friends talk crap cause they see it but snider homer can't. - SMS4016
So you want them to bring in a young goalie, but demand they trade young forwards for older defensemen.
How does that make sense? You're going to have growing pains when you rely heavily on young players, which is what they are doing. Outside of Briere and Hartnell, everyone in the top 9 forwards is 26 or under.
You're going to have growing pains with a young goalie, too. |

Big game today, hate matinees. Whats the scuddle butt with this Ryan OReilly guy? I don't know much about him, how good does he project to be? I don't think we'll do anything, which is fine by me, just play it out, just curious what all the fuss over OReilly is. |

Their team has never won a Cup, and probably never will. They also lost to the Flyers last time they met in the playoffs, and they've got the same bad record this year as Philly. You should be able to find some comebacks out of all of that. |

Those that are misguided and jaded aren't experts. It's important to know who the experts are.

Briere wouldnt waive his NMC. - jak521
Briere would love to come back to buf. He visits here all the time. Every game here he comes outside arena before and after game and preskate to see the fans. He never wanted to leave but buf wouldn't pay cause cheap owner but that's changed. Funny story back when briere and drUry left buf in free agency tallinder said at church to people briere was going to Philly and drury was going to ny. If remembered biron is brieres best friend and they all went to same church. Then Philly had tampering allegation against buf and got away with it. League was asking brieres neighbors And stuff if he said he was going to Philly. Lol |

Maybe it'd be fair, but the lottery won't take that into account unfortunately.
Here's a thought for everyone. I know we talk about 'draft the best player available', and I agree it should be the rule of thumb. But with Snider clearly open to pushing for this team to make certain changes, does anybody else feel he could push Holmgren into using that first round pick on a defenseman? I think it's something we may see this year. |

I really don't have a list. As far as I'm concerned there is one expert in the area on Flyers Hockey. The author of this blog, and really that is all you need.

Briere staying in Philly is important for his family custody situation. He has custody, but his ex-wife has married a local and Briere accepting a trade likely means a custody battle. |

There's a decent crop of defensemen, only Seth Jones seems like a guy who could immediately step in and play in the NHL, but the others are very good prospects in their own right. |

Dear Flyers
It's my birthday so obviously a win would be great.
But more then that I'd like to see you play like the Flyers that I love.
Play with some heart, emotion.
Don't ever quit. If you can do that I'll be happy, regardless of the results.
Signed,
Marc D

How about a top 5 FA winger list? - jstross
Not sure bout top 5, but here's my top 3
1. Corey Perry ANA
2. Jarome Iginla CLG
3. Nathan Horton BOS
Some other good ones
Simon Gagne LA (health is a risk, but who wouldn't want Gags back at the right price?)
Michael Ryder DAL
Jaromir Jagr DAL, only if he is willing to limit himself to 60 or so games during the reg season
David Clarkson NJ
Patrik Elias NJ would be nice to see him score for us rather than against us for a change!!
Perry will be a tough sign if Anaheim lets him go the cost may be prohibitive, Iginla is a risk due to his age and the over 35 rule. I wouldnt be surprised if they go after Horton.
