Not sure bout top 5, but here's my top 3
1. Corey Perry ANA
2. Jarome Iginla CLG
3. Nathan Horton BOS
Some other good ones
Simon Gagne LA (health is a risk, but who wouldn't want Gags back at the right price?)
Michael Ryder DAL
Jaromir Jagr DAL, only if he is willing to limit himself to 60 or so games during the reg season
David Clarkson NJ
Patrik Elias NJ would be nice to see him score for us rather than against us for a change!!
Perry will be a tough sign if Anaheim lets him go the cost may be prohibitive, Iginla is a risk due to his age and the over 35 rule. I wouldnt be surprised if they go after Horton. - BiggE
Lot of age on that list. |

So you want them to bring in a young goalie, but demand they trade young forwards for older defensemen.
How does that make sense? You're going to have growing pains when you rely heavily on young players, which is what they are doing. Outside of Briere and Hartnell, everyone in the top 9 forwards is 26 or under.
You're going to have growing pains with a young goalie, too. - Jsaquella
Our core is young. G vor schenn Laughton simmonds read schenn mez gusty Point is go younger with young goalie true winger ie perry young dman yandle along those lines. Yes some growing pains foR maybe 2 years. But core would then be like between 23 to 28. Then you fill in with vets that are cheaper but we would have puck moving dman plus strong supporting d. Young talented forwards that aren't always playing out of position And young goalCie coming into prime. That true years of cup contention. Then we can truelly compete with young stud teams for years to co

Yup
Not a lot of teams are letting top players who are 26-30 reach free agency, Perry may be the only impact free agent winger under 30 out there, and I wouldn't be surprise if Anaheim locks him up before the end of the season. |

Why not stick with the Goalie they have, who is playing well. And can easily play at that level for the next 5-7 years. How are they going to get Yandle?

If the Flyers buy out Briere in the summer, there will be no young forwards playing out of position. They can then afford a good winger to play with Giroux.
I'd keep Couturier over everyone you mention as the "young" core, except Giroux. If they add a guy like Perry or Horton, they can use one of the wingers on hand to swing a deal for a good puck moving defenseman. Trading Couturier for a Yandle or Bernier is a bad move, IMO.

Well, I won't spoil the smack talking fun, but we're pretty darn far removed from the Cup ourselves. Sabres are still infinite times further off, but I'm saving the smack talk for when I've seen a parade.
Also, I may be run out of town for saying this, but I really don't like cheesesteaks. |

Couturier for Bernier would be especially objectionable for me. |

Dear Flyers
It's my birthday so obviously a win would be great.
But more then that I'd like to see you play like the Flyers that I love.
Play with some heart, emotion.
Don't ever quit. If you can do that I'll be happy, regardless of the results.
Signed,
Marc D
