Yes on any other franchise getting rid of DP would be plan number 1,2,3 4 & 5.
But when you have an owner that wants to spend as little as possible... buying out a player is NOT an option. Sending the player down to the minors so that you have to pay him & replace his salary on the big club is NOT an option. Snow has done really well with having to spend below the cap.

Are you kidding me that whole staff would be gone. I would though take the players into consideration. This team needs a clean up from the front office to the bench. I will say there is talent here I do beleive that but there talents are going to waste in this system that they are playing. - kasperrko
Exactly. Losers develop losers |

Coming back to earth now...realizing that Staple's idea of DP going to the Bridge isn't happening. With Nilsson hurt, Poulin is getting tons of playing time at the Bridge and I doubt DP would go down to take his spot......falling...into...dispair. |

He is far from broke, he just doesn't want to lose any more money.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
That's what I mean- he's broke as far as this hockey team is concerned, and he's trying to "bare bones" the operation to make the numbers as attractive as possible to a potential buyer. Plus, "real estate moguls" don't really have CASH, they have stuff, and they OWE money on most of it- as I said, as far as I heard, at least he realizes this, unlike the guy who owns the Devils. I am really hearing serious rumors about NJ lately, most of them using the word "insolvent". |

He has a current Net Worth of $890 million. The losses of the Isles have been a heavy shot but I don't think he's by any means broke. That said, I think it's taken a big enough bite out of his wallet that he's treading very lightly until the climate is better for making money (ie 2015) - keaner17
Donald Trump has a net worth of $6+ Billion, and he declares bankruptcy once a decade. Tall shiny buildings are not cash unless someone gives you more cash for them than you owe on the mortgage. |

I'll also say this again- there IS a way to win without spending a lot of money, and without having the highest payroll in the league. If Jacques Lemaire (or someone similar in style) coached this team, it would win more games than it loses. If Jacques Lemaire (or someone similar in style) coached this team, and they added two big, strong defensemen who made opponents fear coming near our net, it would contend for the Stanley Cup, despite still having an at or near bottom of the league payroll.
That said, it seems this franchise's "philosophy" is to draft as many fast players as possible. This is fine up front- thus the decent success of the power play and the penalty kill. However, on the back end, there aren't too many people on the planet who are the size of Visnovsky who can play at the NHL level. When your largest GOOD defenseman is Travis Hamonic, you're in trouble. When you have small players, and play the style they play (which can best be described as "pond hockey", IMO), you're screwed altogether. |
