I am not sure of his role either. Mcginn needs to be in the lineup when healthy unless he regresses. If the first line of jake-G-read keep up the play for the next couple of games what would happen when hartnell comes back? Schenn back to centering jake and read with G in the middle of Breire and harts?? - Stinkfitz
Briere will cause the most issues when Hartnell comes back. He's the square peg in this scenario. Knuble's role is less important than what Briere brings to the table.
that's the easy answer. give the guy a role, i bet he'd succeed. give him more legitimacy in the league, bogus calls go down based on reputation alone. not that we need anyone else on the PK right now. - wilsonecho91
I find the easy answers work best for me. Searching out the difficult answers takes more work than I'm willing to dedicate to the buzz.
Carter was no more streaky then any other goal scorer. Way overblown. I have no issues with the trade considering they got Couturier. He has a chance to be a better player then Carter by himself - MJL

It pushed all my buttons. Saw the original in the movie theater with kids Jsaquella would go to school with later, when I lived in Westmont. I felt it was a good sequel, especially considering the time in between. - Flyskippy
Bet you saw it at the Eric in Westmont....which is where I saw it.
How many players in their 30's right now would you give a contract with an $8-$10 million cap hit? - bradleyc4
You pay players market value. But that is a completely different situation, and a different conversation. Here's the problem. You're using that statistical analysis for NHL player when they peak. There's over 700 players a Season. And a very wide distance between the top players, and the players on the bottom of the spectrum in terms of ability. Some players never really peak. They are what they are from day 1. So that wide discrepancy of players, skews that number. But narrow that down and only look at the top 20% of players in the League, or even the top 10% of players. Because they're the players that you're going to sign to those long term deals with large Cap hits. I bet you find the numbers are different. And what you really need to know, is how long they remain in that top 10% or so of players, and remain in the area of their peak performance. You also can't account for a number of factors including injury, losing the desire to play, etc.
You don't need any statisitical data to know that top players in the League, remain top players well into their 30's. Some even get better.
So using that statistical data to determine that it's a mistake to sign a player like Giroux to an 8 year deal, doesn't hold much water in my opinion.
Right into Niemi. I mean, really, RIGHT INTO HIM! - jmatchett
Do you really want to discuss that? Let me know of you do. And I'll tell you what really happened on that play! I'd rather talk about more current events.
"The difference between the Oilers and Flames now? The Oilers are finally interesting on the ice again. The Flames are only interesting off of it. In Calgary this season, it's Feaster famine."

We've had this discussion before. Feel free to provide that replay and I'll take a look. It was obvious what happened on that play.
