We're talking Claude here though, not a scrub. - NickTheKid87
I know. He's the franchise player, so there's probably not going to be much of a negotiation. |

Was there a 5:00 major in there somewhere? I can't remember. I'm leaning towards no. - NickTheKid87
Not that I recall. |

I wouldn't mind 6 years but he's probably getting 8 whether we like it or not. |

Flyers are up to their gills in forwards while needing a defenseman and the rumors abound are: trade best prospect for another forward.... Just baffling - JoeRussomanno

If he continues to play at a high level, then there's no need to feet over the length of the deal. |

I've logged enough hours exposing the fallacies of said fantasy. I'm done. |

Reading through some of the posts, it seems like it's just a supersized version of every Eklund thread. |

He's in the prime of his career now, after 2 or 3 years of his next deal, he'll be in decline. Why pay him like he's in his prime when he won't be? That's why a shorter deal would be optimal. (not saying it'll happen, though) |

I'd consider Couturier to get Pietrangelo. Problem is, you'd have to give up more, and I'm not even sure I'd want to do it straight up. |

My opinion on the RoR rumors is absolutely not...I truly dont even like it with EJ included..Teams dont trade #1 caliber defensemen unless there pretty sure he isnt going to pan out the way the want him too...EJ has already been traded once by the team that drafted him.If they thought his upside was so ridiculously high then they wouldnt even entertain dealing him. But they did and completely robbed Colorado in the process. Now look were ST louis is and where Colorado is. I am not saying that one trade is the reason for the fortunes of those teams but I dont think anybody would argue with me that St.Louis got the better of the deal. Why? Because Colorado traded for EJ potential and you shouldnt give up great piece on potential. Not an Eric Johnson fan and Ryan O Reilly isnt needed. Stay the course and just ride it out with the roster we have |

The 6.5% is actually Colorado's shooting percentage when O'Reilly was on the ice. The average is usually around 8.5%. So O'Reilly was probably a little bit unlucky to not have a few more assists on the year. O'Reilly himself shot 9.5%, so he can't be blamed for that number. If his linemates got a couple more bounces over the course of 82 games, it could have given O'Reilly another 5-10 points. - OrangeBlack27

21 straight killed off, IIRC. That's pretty damned good. - Jsaquella
Kudos to the Chief. The PK is dramatically improved. With the amount of times the Flyers are shorthanded, having a solid PK is vital. |

I would do Couturier straight up for Pietrangelo in a heart beat. He's a legit #1 defenseman now, if not a franchise guy. |
