Sam Gagne is probably going to be the available forward there for now but either way I don't trade Letang for forward help if I'm Pittsburgh. I would hold onto Letang as tightly as I would Crosby and Malkin. - mayorofangrytown
It's not like they're scrapping the bottom of the barrel for offense. |

Not a slight to Neal, but Letang is more of an untouchable than he is imo - BulliesPhan87
One of the things that makes Neal untouchable is that he is locked up for the next 5 years a very friendly cap hit. Getting a 40 goal scorer for 5 mil a year is a bargin. This summer will be interesting, as Letang is due to get a big raise. |

Just compare what both bring to the table, what does 1 do that the other doesn't do and think about what they born do but the other is better at...
I personally think Brayden Schenn will become more of a dynamic and offensively gifted player then Sean Couturier but some feel Couturier will be a better player because of his balance game - SuperSchennBros
Schenn is likely to be more of a dynamic and more gifted offensive player then Couturier. But that is but one facet of the game. |

Anyone else find it completely ridiculous to tout how good the young core is, then in the next breath suggest trading one of the centerpieces of that young core away?
Call it a poll. |

There's been discussion in the Pens thread on would you trade Letang for Eberle straight up? - cap1681
I wouldn't if I were the Pens.
Letang is one of those players, for me as a Flyers fan, that I think is very talented and has a bit too much punk in his game for his talent level.
That said, if the Flyers had him, I'd probably be first in line to buy his jersey. |

Yes I'm well aware. Laughton will be a good solid defensive 3rd line center. That's all we need for that position. Coots has max value. If we didn't have Laughton or talbot to fill coots role on tHis team I wouldn't say use him as trade bait. - SMS4016
Again you're not factoring in what Couturier's role is going to be in the future. You have him pigeonholed as a 3rd line checking Center. That isn't the case. |

I think the Lindros trade was good. Had injury not derailed his career, we'd be talking about one of the greatest players ever.. - NickTheKid87
I don't want to derail this into a Lindros discussion, but there is a school of thought out there that Lindros should still be in the HoF strictly based on his dominance over a short period of time in addition to her PPG (points per game) numbers which, apparently, are pretty good.
I don't think he's a HHoF guy, but I look forward to the Flyers doing the right thing and having an Eric Lindros night. |

I was wondering that. Couturier looks like he will be in the Selke consideration for the rest of his career, and will be the 2nd line C behind Giroux for the next 10 years. Why would you even consider trading a 20 year old who already has proven that he can play in the NHL at a high level? |

If you guys had to choose which would you rather have. A puck moving pp qb 27 min a night dman for the next 15 years or a sElke candidate pk 2nd or 3rd line center for the next 15 years? |

I also think Schenn will be more offensively productive. 65-75 point type of player while Couturier will be more of a 55-65 point guy. However, Couturier's defensive ability (potentially to be the best defensive forward in the game) closes that offensive gap and then some.
Sort of like Richards and Giroux but on the flip side. Richards is a better defensive forward than Giroux (although Giroux is not to be taken lightly in this regard) but Giroux's offensive talents are elite, as we've seen already. That give's G a huge advantage over Richards. |

On this team he is. Yes if he was in say buffalo he'd be a 2 maybe top center but we have g and schenn. Just like Pitt has Crosby then malkin and what happened?? Bye bye staal. |

Who knows? You're also underrating Couturier's offensive potential a little as well as the importance of shutdown forwards. Who was the one responsible for shutting down Malkin in the playoffs last year? |

He actually has better numbers than Pavel Bure. More games played, more points and a higher points per game average. So Lindros will have to be elected at some point. |

Funny thing on the Penguins blogger..BC the Flyers are playing them tonight he pointed out the Pens better be aware of the flyers trying dirty plays like a B. Schenn hit and teaching his brother how to play dirty. This coming from a team blogger that defended Matt Cooke...even though i dont think it was intention to do that he was irresponsible for his body/skates that led to it!! |

Team captains Crosby and Claude Giroux don’t seem to like each other. Crosby is not a fan of Jakub Voracek’s gloves, either.
Sean Couturier will likely be charged with the task of slowing down Evgeni Malkin.
Brayden Schenn will probably try something dirty on Crosby, like this and teach his brother Luke these same bad habits.
Daniel Briere might try scoring another goal despite being offsides.

Really??? I said trade a core piece coots as long as you get a core piece that's needed on this team (puck moving pp dman ) that's young even if we have to overpay a little. In Picks or low level prospects. So I'm nuts how??? Dmen more important than centers. Your going to pay a little more. Would you rather of had Brian leech Or John madden. No brainner. Just an example |

I think a hole in your logic is that Staal could have gotten more money on the open market than he was going to get in Pittsburgh. I could be misremembering that.
