The only reason Staal left is because he wanted to. Remember the massive contract offer they had in store for him in Pitt? He wanted to go to a place where he could be used more. He picked to play with his brother. - jak521
I could swear the Pittsburgh offer was good, but that the term wasn't much. Carolina offered the opportunity to play with his brother and longer term.
Again, I could be wrong on that.

Okay, I will dog deeper. Who was better within their time spent here?
Lindros vs. BrindAmour
Roenick vs. Primeau
Giroux vs. Richards
Schenn vs. Couturier
I just don't find it to be an easy picI. - SuperSchennBros
These aren't really fair to judge. Giroux, Schenn and Couturier's time isn't even over here yet so you can't really judge them. The others befell injuries which is hardly their fault (i.e. Primeau and Lindros). |

would you trade G straight up for Richards? - nastyflyergirl
No but I also wouldn't trade JvR for Luke Schenn. |

Is LA actually looking to trade Richards to Pittsburgh? For who? |

They supposedly offered the same contract that he got in Carolina |

I've watched a lot of Penguins games, and it intersting how Crosby and Malkin take being played physical. Crosby gets hit hard, and usually gets more focused and plays better. Malkin can get frustrated at times and take stupid penalties. The way to try and slow down Crosby is to play him tight and try to take away his space, not try and be physical with him. - cap1681
It seems like every strategy for slowing down Crosby might work for a few shifts and then he adjusts and ends up burning you. It's a shame so many Flyers fans hate him to the point where they can't appreciate what he does on the ice (luckily that's not too many on here). He is so much fun to watch. |

No doubt that Bryz will likely have to play a flawless game tonight to get the Flyers a win. |

I'll explain again what I tried to explain last night. If Giroux remains a top scorer in the League, he's a better player then Richards. If Giroux is a 60-70 point scorer, he's not. Mike Richards doesn't have near the offensive talent and ability that Giroux has. But he has a better defensive game. Both have intangibles. It's what I said last night. A player with an all around 2 way game is always better then a player who is an offensive player. Unless that offensive player is a top Offensive player such as Giroux was last year. Or like Malkin and Crosby are. - MJL
I'm glad you didn't call giroux elite in this post. He has been really good since entering the NHL but he has to do what he did last season a few more times before calling him elite. Last season was just a really big step. |

Please keep doing it. Usually, the louder the "Crosby sucks" chant is, the better he is playing. - cap1681
the Crosby suck chant irritates the hell out of me. its just stupid. |

Watching him totally lose the plot as the Penguins collapsed and then get his ass knocked to the ice was pretty fun.

The pace he was on before he got injured in the Winter Classic was something to see. If he is healty, he runs away with the scoring title that year.......nobody within 30 points of him. |

I agree that a player has to do it year in and year out to truly be considered elite. But Giroux certainly played at an elite level last Season. |

that's a good one. But Letang doing the "Shh" was hysterical. I think I hate him more than Crosby to be honest. |

Did you read the blog though? It explains that it's not as easy as just calling up a team a making a swap. The Flyers aren't the only team that would want OEL and the Flyers are dealing from a point of weakness. We NEED a puck mover and a guy like OEL would be incredibly valuable to use considering his abilities and age. Phoenix would know this too. We need OEL more than they need Couturier.
The Leafs wanted MORE for Schenn than just JVR btw. - NickTheKid87
Really? Coots is god?? Sells ??? ##1 center??? Every trade rumor out there starts with coots going the other way??? Soooo homer traded Ritchie that fast but if homR called all 29 other teams and put coots with picks or whatever to overpay a little your saying not 1 gm would call back and say deal? Why ? Because bills blog said gm has to call around and try to squeeze more. Didn't happen with Ritchie did it. Nope. His a$$ was gone just that fast! Use your head not bills. Think trade deadline day. Do you think every trade that goes done is mulled over for months? |

I'm really getting sick of the whole " Couturier for OEL" conversation.
Seriously, if we're not getting back Shea Weber, Drew Doughty, or Duncan Keith--then Couturier shouldn't be going anywhere.
The Flyers need a #1 now, not a #1 down the line. |
