i still doubt Phoenix would do it - nonpoint22
I agree. They have other defensemen they would trade first.
I wish they were in Quebec or wherever already so the forthcoming realignment could be done properly. |

I'd rather see if a Simmonds or Voracek led package could get Yandle. I could do one of them and a pick/prospect for him. |

PHX would do the deal for less than that. Don't forget they need a young forward of value just as badly as we need that defenseman. |

I think Voracek has the higher skill ceiling, so I would hope it would be Simmonds in that proposed deal. Or B Schenn. But it would be great if the Flyers could take advantage of the Coyotes' money problems to take Yandle off their hands. |

OEL is going to be a Norris contender. It's going to take a load of assets to land him. More likely the can get what they need by dangling Yandle or a Rundblad led package. |

I don't disagree. I just don't think that's the price. And if it is it wiuldnt even matter because Homer would hang up the phone.
Im still sticking to the only way Coots gets moved is in a deal for Weber. And even then I don't like those chances. |

A center is more valuable than a winger. They have Hartnell, Read, Voracek and Simmonds capable of being top six wingers. That doesn't include Brayden Schenn, who can shift over, or Nick Cousins, who projects as a winger at the NHL level. |

I'd move him for a couple guys besides Weber, but it's a short list. |

Pittsburgh won a Cup. Singular. They also had a top 5 draft pick for five straight years, and managed to get Crosby and Malkin in two of those drafts. - Jsaquella
When people say a professional team wouldn't tank for the first overall pick because they have to much integrity, etc in Hockey you don't have to look any further than the Pittsburgh Penguins (and in the NFL it would be the Colts). The Penguins are the reason we have a draft lottery in the first place after they did everything they could to secure Mario Lemieux 3 decades ago (inc. sending their starting goalie to the AHL after he put together a winning streak). It worked so well the first time they did it in the years leading up to the Crosby draft. They had a choice of spending money/trying to win and being the Columbus BlueJackets. A bad team but not bad enough to get the sure fire superstars or just pack it in, save the money since your not making the playoffs anyway and hope to get superstars on entry level contracts.

If we could get dman and winger through fa or draft I'd agree keep team as is but as evidenced by this last year odds are slim to nil. Trade is most likely way. Not only for us but other teams as well. I love this team. I love bragging how young and talented they are. I love that we spend the money and have balls to make trades. I just rather they keep pushing for those final pieces than let this core go to crap like Ritchie and carts. I'm willing to wait a year or 2 but eventually their gonna have to trade. And that's the price we pay unless we want to suck a$$ for years to get top picks which I don't want to do. Last thing I want is homer to go clarkie on us and trade core or picks for these old retreads like philly tends To do. All in the name of saying their trying to win the cup. |

To be fair, the Crosby draft was a total lottery, but the Pens did have 5 years where they were one of, if not the absolute, worst team in the NHL. If one wants to follow that plan, then they have to be willing to accept the 5 years of futility.
I'm not going to knock them, more making the point that the Pens had 5 years of insanely high picks to build their foundation, and comparisons to them that ignore that are (frank)ing ridiculous. |

No way that happens, OEL is the team's best player and most valuable (Mike Smith tie here) OEL brings to Coyotes what Lidstrom brought to Detroit. He is a budding super star and he is totally untouchable. |

Well, for instance, a Yandle deal would probably have to include 17 or 93, Laughton and a high pick at a guess. It might take even more.
Look at what Goligoski landed the Pens. |
