poll on TSN- 61% of people say no to a suspension.
If I'm Gillis, that's all I say to Shanny.
"The majority of fans say no Shanny. Do you really want to piss off fans after you just locked them out of the game they love for no reason? Do you you want to be that guy?" - IanEsplen

Nope.
I watched most of the games in bars in Calgary in 06. Virtually the whole place was going for the Oilers. Didnt matter if it was Melrose, Cowboys, or where ever. We had a corporate event the one night at Cowboys. The Oil got a penalty in OT. I jokingly said to the group "no problem, Pisani is going to score short handed". Sure enough he did. The whole place erupted!
Calgary was definitely pro Oiler in 06. And Edmonton was pro Flames in 04. Your just pretending it wasnt to be a .... - Iggysbff

Ya. It's like if the Leafs were to miraculously make the playoffs and go on a run. Everyone here would just love to see that happen. We would all get Leafs car flags. It would be quite something. - hankthetank
No. I will never ever ever get a Leafs flag. |

Agreed, I fully expect Edmonton to be the favoruite in the Northwest in a couple of seasons, and they'll probably take over as the most hated team in Canada and people are gonna look for any excuses they can to hate them once they start winning(lottery finishes, Yakupov's celebrations, any dives or complaining or any quote that can be taken out of context, etc.). Either way, once they get some better balance and depth, that's going to be a really good team for years.
Minny should be good if their prospects develop well and they find some chemistry. Colorado has a great young forward group, they just need some solid d-men. Calgary is a mess. - Nucker101
Edmonton has a ridiculous amount of young talent. They remind me of the 2007-2008 Blackhawks. |

That is because Calgary has a lot of Oiler fans.

5 reasons the league hates the Nucks.
(1) - The diving - Kesler really needs to stop this. If he only did it on occasion it wouldn't be so bad. I think some other players in the league aren't too far behind him, like Dustin Brown for example, but Kesler is still the poster boy.
(2) - Riots - These weren't fans, just a few DB's that wanted attention. Black mark for the city, but this was not the action of fans. Funny, no one seems to mention SF Giants fans after their world series win but I guess that's the difference between winning and loosing. I know it was on a smaller scale, but still.
(3) Winning - Sure, most of the Canadian teams have been terrible the past few years. Being that the nucks are in the NW, many feel that they wouldn't place so high in the regular season if they were in another division. Not their fault but whatever.
(4) Sedins - Seen as being way too soft. Funny, Leaf fans were happy when they found out burkie was trying to sign them in TO a few year back but now they wouldn't want them on their team.
(5) Inferiority Complex - Some Vancouverites seem to think the east is trying to screw them. Most make this into a joke but some can be real a-holes about it. Relax guys, you live in paradise. How I miss Vancouver, Kits beach, the interior, Whistler, Tofino, etc, etc! Everyone should have an opportunity to visit the Pacific Northwest, it's one of the best places on earth. - Canuckleafer
Most Vancouver fans will admit that Kesler is a diver and that he needs to stop.
The riots IMO were definitely started by non-canuck fans, just a bunch of drunks and bizarre/violent groups of people who some say were planning to riot either way.
Agreed with the winning.
Sedins are definitely not soft, they take a ton of hits and battle along the boards as much as any players in the league and when I watch Crosby and Stamkos play, I always notice how those players get way better treatment from the referees and I've seen both of those 2 players go down easy to draw calls on multiple occasions and they always get the calls and are rarely called out. The Sedins are class acts.
Agreed with the last part, I don't get the pissing match Vancouver tries to have with Toronto. |

The rest of Canada has't had a legit contender in years and are jealous? Everyone would hate Montreal or Toronto too if they were contenders the last 3/4 years.

I don't think for or against team because they are located in Canada. I like Vancouver and have family there.

Both those teams were huge underdog/cinderalla stories, those types of teams are always well liked. And give me a bunch of "idiots" that can actually win games over a bunch of nice guys that finish last year all day. I could care less about the stanley cup history, I wasn't even born when the Oilers and Leafs last won the cup. All I know is that we all watch this sport for entertainment as fans, and I'm definitely more entertained when I know that my team actually has a good chance of winning and all the games actually matter everytime the puck drops. I'll admit that I dislike the Hawks and Oilers, but the losers who's lives seem to revolve around the hate of professional sports team are pretty pathetic people and I really hope that they realize that this is just a game. - Nucker101
I fully agree. I learned a long time ago not to really care about it. I was a teen when Steve Smith scored on his own goal and the Flames went on. I was devastated but the next day nothing was different. Its the same with Football aor anyother sport. have fun and cheer but at the end of the day...its a game.

For sure, except the Hawks have Seabrook and Keith, plus a great leader in Toews and also they had amazing balance and depth with guys like Buff, Brouwer, Ladd, etc. If Edmonton can find some gritty players that can play top 9 role and another top 4 d-men, they can be a great team. Eberle is just sick. |

That's fair, I can see why you find it hard to cheer for guys lime Kesler and Burrows with their history. Those who follow this team closely will tell you that Burrows and Lapierre have toned it down big time since last year, but they still have a reputation. A lot of Canucks fans hate it when Kesler is flopping on the ice. As for the fans, every fan base has their clowns(especially online when you're hiding behind a computer screen). You can't judge an entire fan base because of a few trolls on HockeyBuzz, the sample size is just way too small to use this site so say that any fan base is annoying or classy. People will point to the riots, but I'd honestly bet anyone that very few of the rioters were actual Canucks fans. |

Risky deal signing him based off of a few games, could either be a huge steal or an overpaid backup. He looks like the real deal so far for sure though. |

Meh, I expect them to have a new coach by the time they become true contenders. They just need a good teacher type of coach right now. I'm not too familiar with Krueger so I can't really comment. I highly doubt we'll see many teams as good as the Chicago team that won the cup in the salary cap era. That team was just stacked top to bottom and had the perfect balance of talent, skill, leadership, depth , size, speed and grit. |
