If you can trade Lu ,you do it. If not ,it has to be Schneider. - VANTEL
Yup, we can only speculate as fans about their actual trade values and what Gillis has been offered but if Schneider can bring in a really nice return you have to pull the trigger. I still think that MG being as stubborn as he is, will end trading Luongo if at all possible. |

I don't think Garrison would have much of a return.
Lu and Edler for Campbell Wiess + could be something to consider. - VANTEL
We need another Right ahnd Shot defenseman. |

Seems to me like Schneider would get you a much better return, and if Lu craps the bed next year...compliance buy out and go with Lack. That's what I would do, not that you care what Hawk fan thinks. - Ogilthorpe2
Believe it or not I always respect your opinion.
I think you always have a good vision of things.
I can't see Lu being bought out. If we trade Schneider then Lu is our guy for the next 7-8 years.
If he played like this year I am ok with him staying. I do prefer Schneider though. |

I wouldn't envision him being bought out either, I think Lu would be just fine. But if you trade Scneids and Lu falls apart, at least it would be an option. Is Lack still hurt? |

Funny listening to Chicago fans whining about a supposed cheap shot. |

Luo would never be bought out, you would lose your asset for nothing. If you are going to buy him out you trade him instead for the best offer on the table, even if it is only a 5th round pick. I am also not sure how it works now when you trade someone and you can absorb part of their salary, but that could be an option as well. |

I feel Schneider will be better than Luo in a few years, but if the right return was available I would be willing to pull the trigger.
I am not afraid to state publicly that our window of opportunity is getting smaller every year. Either we gamble and trade Schneids for a run right now/next year or we trade Luo for young talent to hopefully keep us contending (make playoffs) for years to come as some of our young guys develop. |

I can summarize
CHI Fans: Vancouver Canucks, fans, coaches all suck. Was the dirtiest play in the history of sports, Canucks full of cheap shot artists and divers, Chicago full of saints who have done no wrong. Hansen should be banned from the NHL, he is going to pay, watch out. Keith hit on Sedin was okay because he had a dirty hit on Keith earlier in the game and the elbow was just retaliation.
and Oglithorpe2 has conducted himself with class and been willing to discuss things in a civil manner. |

I had to do a double take when it said your team was CHI. I respect evryone has right to an opinion, just nice when people are willing to debate it or offer thoughts on subjects, and willing to listen to counter points. |

This is a real cheap shot - pker2theend
You, sir, have zero clue how fighting works in the NHL if you think this is a "cheap shot".
You plow through a player, look up and see the Hawks "enforcer" standing over you with his gloves off... usually you take the mitts off and fight. But then again, that's common sense when it comes to hockey fighting. |

If you make the right moves at the right times, the window never closes. Superficial loyalty is the most common cause of "rebuilding". Keep Schneider because he extends your window. If I'm a GM of any team, and I have a core vet who hasn't agreed to an extension at the TDL (heading into UFA), he's gone for a younger version of himself (think Ohlund, Jovo, Ehrhoff and the return they could have brought vs what they did in the post season...).
If the team is built with proper depth, it shouldn't ruin your odds to win the cup, and eventually you have a perrennial contender with no down years. The sh!tty side is you have to know when to shoot old yeller. This league isn't built for one-team careers anymore. It's a harsh management style, but I guarantee people would be satisfied with the results. |

I'm much more ornery on the Hawk pages. |
