Hossa is the difference. He gets up and keeps playing, we all know nothing happens.
If that Torres hit never happens, there is a good chance he keeps playing after the Hansen collision. - Mattjd123
So Hansen got suspended for Torres hitting Hossa?
What a fuken joke . Sorry man that is retarded on the NHLs part.
I have no problem if a person gets a game suspension everytime there is a headshot accidental or not (Fights included). This picking and chosen by the biggest idiots on the planet is nuts. |

So you do you think the penalty is called if someone other than Hossa gets grazed by Hansen's forearm via incidental contact and remains on his feet? If not, the head contact stuff is BS. Go take a look at your hockey helmet... It's probably covered in scratches. Incidental contact with the head happens countless times per game... This incident ONLY resulted in a penalty (let alone suspension) because Hossa is extremely vulnerable damaged goods. Dangerous precedent to set IMO. Maybe we should acquire Tim Connolly so he can draw penalties & suspensions on normal plays. - DrChristianTroy
I agree 100%
I thought he went down easier than maybe a player without a concussion history would.

he led with his elbow. no intent but need to be responsible for your actions. 1 game is a fair penalty imo. |

And you will also note, out of respect to you ( ) and other good hawk fans, I did not post this is teh Hawk forum. It would have caused a storm and I would have been labeled a troll.
So... just for thought....
Really? Calling Marian Hossa, one of the best all-around players in the game a female dog makes you feel good about yourself? You're a pathetic human being. |

So the guy that used his stick ( Settaguchi ) with intention to injure gets 8 000 fine and Hansen gets a game |

Led with his elbow?
Watch the replay again. His elbow never even makes contact with Hossa. His gloves grazes Hossa's helmet and down goes Hossa. |

Tell you what, you bring your biased reporting somewhere else. IMHO a one year suspension is not enough for a cowardly hit like that. Bring your biased typical Vancouver crying somewhere else....all you ever do up there is cry. BTW, please don't tell me anymore about how Luongo will bring a package of 3-4 good players as he is clearly overpaid and past his prime and everyone knows he needs to be traded so if I were you I would expect one decent player and a prospect at best. - bdashaw
So if this is worth one yr you would have to say the Keith hit is worth kicking him out of the league and jail time? One game is far more then enough when you consider what Keith got for a hit that was far worse. |

i just watched the setoguchi hit and i think its more in defense that he gets his arms and stick up. I don't see any intent their either as he was turning and quincey was the one engaging in contact. I would of said a game for that as well. |

How the hell does Hansen get a game for that?
Give me a break, what a joke. I'm sure the Hawks fans like that game.
Either make it nothing or 10, don't wussy foot around and give him a game. Only reason it's a game is because Hossa is injured. |

The suspension video is weird.
Their rationale didnt really convince me, slowing down to basically frame by frame to suggest he changed the angle of his arm on purpose in a split second, and because his glove was closed a split second before the puck got there he had no intent of catching it or whatever.
Reckless play yes, don't like the suspension justification. Still think he should have got something, though. |

Seriously, watch it again and explain how he leads with his elbow. His glove, maybe his forearm, are what touch Hossa's helmet. His elbow doesn't. |

1 game is nothing. Most of us thought a fine or a game would be what he got. Had this happened in a Panthers vs. Blue Jackets game nobody is even talking about it today and there's no consequence. It happened between two of the NHL's big clubs so they had to do something. |

i think the anatomy of the play is he goes up in attempt to catch an airborn puck, realizes he doesn't have a shot at it and goes for the body. Unfortunately his elevated position lead his arm to hit his head and not his back. 6 inches lower and its a clean play no penalty or suspension. |

Yeah his arm was already up there, kept the momentum going forward and hit his head.

Kerry Fraser on TSN said the hit doesn't warrant anymore than the minor penalty it got. I have to agree, and am amazed anyone, even Hawks fans, would claim otherwise. |

Knowing the NHL hatered for the Canucks ,I am not surpised.
They also have the Luongo rule and the Kesler rule. Combine that with the Rome suspension and calling out Burrows with the refs , it is clear that not only fan bases hate the Canucks but the league also hates the Canucks. |

Nope. It's still an just an opinion. But one of a former NHL ref, so it certainly holds more gravity than any poster on here.
Why so sensitive, kiddo? This has nothing to do with your team. |

No, what would the head ref for years know about rules of the game |
