He was keeping this leauge alive. Watching his highlights never gets old. After the Hansen suspension I feel cooke should have got the year off.
- pker2theend

No contact with the head so its ok.

Also Cooke is not wearing the Canucks jersey anymore, its a Penguins one so its okay now.

wow, a league without Hansen, what will teh NHL do?

On that note, how would the Hawks fair without Shaw and Keith for a year.

10 skaters aside, bdashaw's NHL

- IanEsplen

Are you talking about Andrew Shaws hit on Smith? Such a similar hit to Sendins hit on Keith right before Keith made the stupid choice to elbow him. Sedins hit on Keith was far worse then Shaws on Smith. Watch both videos. Sedin raises his shoulder to make impact with Keiths head. Shaw never changes his body to make sure he hits Smith in the head. Sedin clearly elevates his left shoulder to make sure there is contact with Keiths head. Its people like you who make everyone else who follows hockey hate your team.

The true test with this suspension is if the league will be consistent. If they are going to suspend everyone for head shots (less games for incidental, more for malicious/player history) and set this as the tone for the league, then fine. If history has anything to say about it the suspensions will have more to do with the names on the front and backs of the jersey. Some teams are going to get more calls to their benefit and more leeway with hits, others are going to get punished more. I am a Canucks homer, and I have always felt we have gotten shafted by officials, and the league does not care how Canucks do because our fan base will keep supporting them.

The NHL will never be consistent and they don't even care.

To PHX: Booth, Higgins
To VAN: Vermette, Torres (I like Higgins, but personally wish we had kept Torres in the first place.)

To WPG: Jensen, Ballard
To VAN: E. Kane

To FLA: Luongo
To VAN: Gudbranson, Clemmensen (try again since they must be desperate for goaltending @ this point.)

(Add picks/prospects to either side of a trade to make it work...)

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Kane Schroeder Kesler
Raymond Vermette Kassian
Torres Lapierre Hansen

If we need a shut-down line, put Raymond Vermette Kesler together... Kane & Schroeder play with Kassian.

Florida just called up Markstrom, so I think they want to give him some reps at the NHL level before they would want to do anything with their goalies.

And as much as I'd love to get Kane, don't think we have the horses to outbid others and Jensen and Ballard won't cut it. The first trade, meh. Been there, done that with Torres. Maybe Ott becomes available from Buffalo?

im not sure. i guess it depends on how their season goes and what direction they want to take. They may decide to clear out a few veterans for some younger players/picks. Or they might trade some of their younger guys (smith, greening, etc).

ya, their organizational need is definitely in net so any deal with kane would have to bring in a premier starting goaltender imo.

Point being that trade allows us to turn Kesler into a perennial 40+ goal RWer who stays healthy with a less physically demanding role. The value is in the outcome.

As far as the perceived value of Ballard, that's Av's fault. He'd be a perfect acquisition for the right team. He's like a used car that's been lady driven & garage stored for the past few years. Jensen is a stud blue chip prospect who has the same potential as Kane, but maybe not for a couple years. The Jets can wait... They won't be contenders anytime soon. I'd gladly throw in another prospect and a 1st round pick if that's what it took to get the deal done (hence what I wrote under the trades)...

doesn't matter whose fault it is, ballards value is almost zero at this point.

Jensen is a sniping playmaking power forward. His potential is sky high IMO. he'd already be producing in the NHL if he belonged to a lesser franchise... The only reason Kane got an early start.
