Tell you what, you bring your biased reporting somewhere else. IMHO a one year suspension is not enough for a cowardly hit like that. Bring your biased typical Vancouver crying somewhere else....all you ever do up there is cry. BTW, please don't tell me anymore about how Luongo will bring a package of 3-4 good players as he is clearly overpaid and past his prime and everyone knows he needs to be traded so if I were you I would expect one decent player and a prospect at best. - bdashaw
wow, a league without Hansen, what will teh NHL do?
On that note, how would the Hawks fair without Shaw and Keith for a year.
10 skaters aside, bdashaw's NHL |

Again--completely missing the point. My point has nothing to do with the hit being dirty or not. - CaptainBlackhawk
I realize this. But you lumped in the Mitchell hit on Toews with other hits that actually could be considered questionable. One of these things is not like the others. |

Are you saying the Willie Mitchell hit on Toews was dirty? - nucks_94
Toews does not have the puck, Mitchel blindsided him before the puck arrives. You decide.

Here is a story about one of the Sedin's wielding an elbow to Dustin Brown. Hansen elbows Hossa.
That is a lot of elbows flying around. |

I says pardon..... Not to bring old hits back or anything but Keith's hit where the puck was nowhere near the vicinity. Then that's a 5 year suspension or ban from the NHL. Seriously, give your head a shake and at least get some common sense. |

"When you watch an incident like this it is easy to see why players dive and try to sell calls"
Is this the definition of Kesler in an NHL based jeopardy?
Regarding the hit on Hossa, If Hansen was reaching for the puck, his arm would be extended, not bent so his elbow and outer forearm goes into the back of Hossa's head. Questionable hit, yes. Deserves some time off, yes. 1-2 games is my guess. One of the best examples of a clean hit in that game was Bolland on Kesler. - ikeane
Blackhawks were flopping all over the ice - especially Frolik. Embarrassing. |

So how long is it gonna take for AV to set some up a second line??? 20 games, 30 games, before it's too late??? We really need a skilled winger on that second line. - LeftCoaster
Yeah, it would be nice to be able to at least identify a second line on this team. Not a first and two thirds. |

Can you name another Hawks player in the last 3 years or so of this rivarly who was the recipient of one of these questionable hits that Canuck fans love to call "hockey plays"?
I'll be waiting.... - CaptainBlackhawk
Why does it just have to be against the Canucks? Why only three years, several players suffer head injuries at some point during their careers. It's a physical game, outside of the obvious head shots like the former Matt Cooke used to deliver or the Duncan Keith play, players get hurt. |

- Because these "hits" consistently happen against the Canucks and against the Hawks top forwards/defenseman with the Canucks consistently targeting those players.
- 3 years = period of this particular rivalry with both teams being near the top of the West.

Dirty or not dirty.. Mitchell 100% knew exactly what he was doing and intentionally hit him to enact damage. Note: It wasn't against Ben Eager, Bolig, Brookbank, Frolik.. it was against one of their top skilled players as is par for the course with this Vancouver team. Completely missing the point. - CaptainBlackhawk

I'm honestly on the fence here about this hit, as I see both sides of the argument.
I don't think it's a purely clean play - as the Vancouver consituents are claimining, nor do I think it was a calculated malicious attempt to injure as some of my Indian-head compatriots are selling today.
I think it developed as a hockey play - but the follow through of the elbow has me wondering about in-the-moment intent. I don't think that Hansen went into the play to clock Hossa, but I think he definitely - subconsciously maybe - took his shot at an opportune moment. May not have been an attempt to injure, but was certainly done with intent of phsycial play, and it went awry in this instance.
It's hard to fault him completely, because the game happens so fast, and sometimes in the name of being aggressive, players move or step the wrong way.
All that being said, I fully expect him to get at least a game, as the league is trying to make guys activlely think about avoiding the head in moments like this - which I don't think is a bad thing. - FredoXV
I don't mind that assessment. He should probably sit for one game. |

I absolutely LOVE that your blog considers Hossa taking a dive. Seriously, Vancouver accusing anyone else of diving? Obviously Hossa missed the rest of a close game just to sell it more. He'd rather be in the locker room getting a massage. Kesler showed what kind of players Vancouver are great at, DIVING!!! How could you possibly post that about Hossa. Joke, joke joke! - rockinpepper1
I love how Hawks fans can't read.
"Now I'm not picking on Hossa here, I do think he did get his bell rung and that he wasn't just trying to sell the call."
Maybe I should bold it or something. |

Right, so questionable or clean, we aren't allowed to hit your stars. Only players that you wouldn't be upset about. - nucks_94
Wrong.
Those are the ONLY players that the Canucks ever hit with these questionable calls you Canuck fans love to call "hockey plays".
Again - name me ONE Hawk player who was hit with a questionable/"hockey play" type hit in the last 3-4 years as this rivalry has heated up that caused long term injury?
Again.. I'll be waiting.
My point: It's a culture from the head coach on down and why the Canucks - with that hack behind the bench - will never win a Cup. |

So Hossa and Toews got concussed from hits so far in three years and we have Daniel who suffered a concussion from this rivalry. I'll check if any other Canuck player has been injured and get back to you. |

or the Sedin on Dustin brown Elbow, or Bertuzzi riding Moore head first into the ice, or the slash on a player returning to injury removing him from the game (Hansen on Bolland), or Hansen elbowing a player between him and the puck in the back of the head. All could be considered intent to injure. I believe the point that was raised earlier was that a lot of these "questionable hits" seem to be dished out by Canuck players |

The scum of the NHL diving all over the ice and getting reckless when frustrated with getting dominated by Hossa and the Hawks...some things just don't change |

And Daniel suffered the concussion as a direct result of retribution from a previous cheap shot on Keith in that game. Note: Doesn't make it right.. just that Daniel Sedin actually had the "questionable/hockey play" type hit previously in that game. Which 100% carries validity to my point. |

Questionable is a term I'm using for what you Canuck fans love to call "hockey plays" that are obviously not remotely questionable but completely dirty hits.
The hit on Toews can be argued a number of ways. The point is very simple: Mitchell knew what he was doing against one of the best Hawk forwards.. note: Not named Brookbank, Frolik, Bolig etc. |

Do you honestly think that if I go back in history I'm not gonna find any "questionable" plays made by current/former Hawk players? COME ON, it's a tough game, put your big boy panties on!!! |
