I heard that Hossa was fine after the game. I believe the quote was straight from coach Q.
that being said concussions are an odd thing though. one minute you're good, the next you're not. - IanEsplen
Wrong.
Coach Q did not say he was "fine". Completely wrong.
Said he "seemed OK but needed to be evaluated on Wednesday". |

So you think Hossa faked the whole thing? |

Pathetic.
But, yes, that's what he is seemingly arguing or wondering. |

The hit on Toews can be argued a number of ways. The point is very simple: Mitchell knew what he was doing against one of the best Hawk forwards.. note: Not named Brookbank, Frolik, Bolig etc. - CaptainBlackhawk
Realize I am late to the party on this one, but Mitchell makes that hit no matter who that is. It was simple coincidence that it was Toews. HAD it been Brookbank, Frolik, or Bolig, etc I guarantee you he makes the exact same hit.
And just to pitch in on last night's game: I am on the fence. They can't throw the book at him and they can't give him nothing. I would be surprised if it is more than 1-2 games. We can sit here and chat about how we KNOW what happened and what was running through people's minds but the fact of the matter is that none of us have any legs to stand on with this one. |

He does have a point, Hossa popped his head up at one point and looked directly at the ref, before quickly putting his head back down. |

Tricky things with concussions, sometimes the effects are not immediately felt. Case in point, Crawford was run during the game against the Kings, practiced the next day, after practiced, felt off, and was diagnosed with a concussion the day after that. |

did you do anything other than build up your preconceived notions before spewing this blog?
"I saw him after the game (and) he seems okay but we'll know more (Wednesday)," Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said following Tuesday's game. "It's a major concern. Hopefully, he's okay."
sounds anything but 'he's fine' |

Perhaps that had something to do with the fact he was blindsided with an elbow/forearm while he was in a defenseless position? |

So any games Hossa may miss are an embellishment? He is a profesional and all-star. I doubt missing game time is what he wants to do. If he wanted to "act" he would have done one of 2 things:
1) Made sure an announcement claiming a concussion with significant amounts of time to be missed would have been reported last night/early AM.
2) Originally signed to play for the Canucks a few years ago |

Later he was asked if he went for testing. He answered no, he stay here with us (paraphrase).
If you thought there was something wrong with a player, why would you not send him for testing? |

Just a hunch Ian - as is common with concussions.. let the player sleep and see what further symptoms are presented.
He specially said it was a major concern. That's what he actually said - not some misquoted crap that fits nicely with the narrative you're attempting to spin.
And let's just say.. for arguments sake.. that Hossa was blindsided in the head with a forearm/elbow from a defenseless position.. came off the ice and the trainers felt he was just "OK".. after what happened to him last year, don't you think they'd take every precaution necessary to make sure there are no further symptoms?
Nope! We'll go with "Canuck talk" and think he was "faking it" or "playing it up". |

The question wasn't whether he went for testing, the question that was asked was if Hossa had been sent to the hospital. |

Seriously?
8:51 Vancouver unsportsmanlike conduct - 2 min R. Kesler drawn by J. Toews - MartiniMan
honestly, this is a call I hate.
Yah, Kesler flopped, but either it is a dive or a trip. It isn't both.
Figure it out NHL.
And yes, I very likely would have called this one on Kes. |

Most doctors would say to stay awake for at least 5 hours, upwards to 24 hours depending on the severity of the trauma. And that the patient should not sleep unsupervised for 48 hours following the trauma. But what do I know?.... |

Agree. Either negate the other call, or make the unsportsmanlike a double minor. That will end diving league-wide in pretty short order.

And you have zero clue if someone from the Hawks staff wasn't at his house yesterday supervising him. |

You're right. I thought he was being re-evaluated in the morning though? And the comment was more an FYI... going to sleep right after head trauma isn't a good idea. |
