I cant believe Porter wasnt on the Sabres roster from opening day. Never should have resigned Hecht. Porter shouldve been here from day 1. - theblueandgold
sure. im still upset that we could ice a better team than the one we have but because of waiver wires and injuries we cannot. |

Statement from Terry Pegula
February 20, 2013 - 6:01 PM
By Mike Harrington
Here is Terry Pegula's statement on the firing of LIndy Ruff, just released by the Sabres' PR department:
"The hockey world knows how I and the entire Buffalo Sabres organization feel about Lindy Ruff not only as a coach but also as a person. His long tenure with the Sabres has ended. His qualities have made this decision very difficult. I personally want Lindy to know that he can consider me a friend always."
That's it. |

I may be in the minority, but I think a healthy Leino and Tropp, with Porter as 4th line center over Hecht, make this a much better team.
Leino may not have put many points on the board last season, but he has great puck possession skills and he plays well with a playmaker and tough winger (briere = grigo, hartnell = ott).
Tropp makes our 4th line not a risk to put on the ice. Plays hard, defends well, has a scoring touch. |

Mike Keenan- played College hockey
Paul Maurice- Jr only as a player
Ken Hitchcock- never played NHL I don’t think even Jr
Peter DeBoer- played in the IHL
Barry Trotz- played jr hockey
Tom Renney- I don’t think he played pro
Cory Clouston Ott played cdn university hockey
Michel Therrien played in the AHL
Andy Murray I dont think he played pro
Bruce Boudreau played in only about 180 games
I would say that plenty of these guys who have had no NHL playing experience have had success of varying degrees as coach at the NHL level

The firing of Ruff is not just about a coaching change, this now means anything can change. All the fruits of the promises of Terry Pegula brought to Buffalo almost two years ago to the day(feb 18th 2011) can now be acheived. I of course am talking about on ice Hockey, not sweet buildings and downtown development, that was happening now matter who was coach.
Ruff symbolized a, "we will do anything, except the biggest thing" that needs to be done to win. Now that is behind us. I'm sure Terry will sit down tonight with a glass of wine with his own words "Lindy ain't going nowhere" running through his head, wondering if he did the wrong thing today, or the wrong thing two years ago. Lindy Ruff is Terry Pegula's first firing of his business career(apparently). Terry will soon be over this and going foward anyone who isn't up to par is expendable. Its truly going to be results based. Nothing can stop us now.
Now we can say, "From this day foward, February 20th, 2013, our mission is to win the Stanley cup". |

I am seriously wondering what kind of moves Darcy is planning on making. There has to be something brewing. |
