You put anyone on the Flyers and their save percentage automatically drops by 5%. Same way it goes up in Phoenix, NYR, etc. - NickTheKid87
He wasn't a .920 guy for some good Anaheim teams, prior to arriving in Phoenix, either.
But whatevs. |

Without a doubt. Flyers-Devils was a lot bigger than Pens-Flyers for awhile as well. That's why I refuse to call the Flyers-Pens rivalry the best in sports. That title still belongs to Yankees-Red Sox. Even if one or both of the teams suck, it's still heated. - NickTheKid87
I relate the Crosby factor to the Flyers / Pens rivalry to the Claude Lemieux factor in the Det / Avs rivalry of late 90's. The hatred of the fanbases of one player intensify it 10x.

Well he was a back-up in Anaheim and we know how he does when he doesn't play on a consistent basis. |

emricks good, but thorne is just the man...
btw the embellishment by the pens last night ie.) james neal getting boarded by a 175 lb soaking wet sean coots, and brent sutter embellishing a high stick (no call) was purely pitiful. james neal is a rat and a coward - Flyers4Life88
Speaking of James Neal.....
Anyone else hear the Consol Energy Center PA guy announce the Neal goal as being scored by "James "The Real Deal" Neal"?
How awful is that?
I swear when I heard that, I could practically smell the vinegar coming from my TV.

Compared to other home team broadcasters, he's not bad but I just don't like that kind of commentary in general.
Don't get me wrong, I like JJ, just not some aspects of his style. - NickTheKid87
I suppose it just doesn't bug me given the context of a home broadcast. To be fair, I used to be really outspoken against the national broadcasters, and I've come around to like them okay. The only (non-home) broadcasters I really can't stand are Pierre and, on the intermission side of things, Milbury. |

Agreed. That will help his development (the flyers lack of better options). That's why the trade was good for both teams. Philly having better options up front and Toronto on the backend were making it tough for JVR & Schenn to stay in the lineup and learn. Young players make mistakes, mainly so they can learn from them. - flyler
Or mainly because they don't learn from them. |

Let's compare the Flyers 1st 9 games to their last 9 games for fun and to pump some life into this thread.
1st 9: 3-6
Claude Giroux: 6 points (3 G, 3A)
Jake Voracek: 4 points (1 G, 3 A)
Brayden Schenn: (8 games) 4 points (1 G, 3 A)
Danny Briere: (5 games) 3 points (1 G, 2 A)
Wayne Simmonds: (8 games) 5 points (2 G, 3 A)
Matt Read: 7 points (3 G, 4 A)
Ilya Bryzgalov: (8 games) 3-5, 2.38 GAA, .920 SV%
Last 9: 5-3-1
Claude Giroux: 9 points (2 G, 7 A)
Jake Voracek: 14 points (5 G, 9 A)
Brayden Schenn: 10 points (3 G, 7 A)
Danny Briere: 6 points (4 G, 2 A)
Wayne Simmonds: (7 games) 7 points (4 G, 3 A)
Matt Read: 6 points (4 G, 2 A)
Ilya Bryzgalov: (8 games) 5-2-1, 2.63 GAA, .888 SV%, 1 SO
Interesting. - NickTheKid87
Kinda supports the idea that Lavi has said "screw it" as far as shifting to a more defensive style. All I know is that vs the Isle and vs. the Pens it was go go go for the most part. As long as Bryz can stay out of the woods they should be OK. |

Oh, I actually liked that. Based on what I hear on the TV, I think their in-house stuff is solid. Especially the music, I definitely heard The Hellion last night |

You gotta make sure you put the numbers in context though. Statistics without context lead to trouble. |

Emerick has a very annoying voice and spends too much time talking about stuff that's irrelevant to what's happening on the ice. Every time he says "waffle-board" I want to slap him.
