can we all agree that Doc and Pierre beat the hell out of JJ and Coatsie?
- Dkos

Split the difference then....JJ and Pierre, cause JJ kicks the poop out of Emerick as far as sticking to the topic at hand: A Hockey Game.

Maybe part of the problem is Pierre is on the ice and Doc is upstairs by himself and nobody is there to prevent him from pounding drinks, sniffing glue and popping pills all damn night?

Categorize it as you wish, but I follow the numbers. Not a gut feeling that contradicts the numbers.

I just see him as a very good #1 goalie. Something we have not had in my years as a Flyers fan. A career .914%...

To compare him to other goalies..

Marty Brodeur : .913%
Ryan Miller: .915%
Miikka Kiprusoff: .913%
Roberto Luongo: .919%
Henrik Lundqvist: .920%
Evgeni Nabokov: .912%
Kari Lehtonen: .915%
Carey Price: .916%
Sergei Bobrovsky: .908%

You gotta make sure you put the numbers in context though. Statistics without context lead to trouble.

Thank you.

I'll try to add further context to goalie save %.

So you think that Lundqvist is an average Goalie? His SV% right now is .915. Which you said was League average.

Different playing in front of the Flyers' defense than it is in front of the Coyotes' defense. Systems play a part whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

I was looking at Bryzgalov's career numbers. Would you like to compare them to Lundqvist's?

I did acknowledge that Bryzgalov's stint in Phoenix inflated his career numbers.

I don't need to. I already know that Lundqvist is a better Goalie. My point is simple. You made a comment in reply to a poster saying that he thinks Bryzgalov will get to .915 SV% this Season. You said to paraphrase, "oh goody League average". So with that statement, Lundqvist is an average Goalie.

I compared them to about 7 of the top goalies in the game right now.. pretty much on par with everyone else.

Comparing Lundqvist and Bryz isnt realistic. One is the best goalie in the game, the other is a very good starting goalie.

You don't think how a team plays defensively in front of a Goalie, affects his numbers. Regardless of how well he plays?
