I don't need to. I already know that Lundqvist is a better Goalie. My point is simple. You made a comment in reply to a poster saying that he thinks Bryzgalov will get to .915 SV% this Season. You said to paraphrase, "oh goody League average". So with that statement, Lundqvist is an average Goalie. - MJL

I compared them to about 7 of the top goalies in the game right now.. pretty much on par with everyone else.
Comparing Lundqvist and Bryz isnt realistic. One is the best goalie in the game, the other is a very good starting goalie. - jak521
which is which? |

Bryz is the least of the Flyers issues. He's logged more time in net than any goalie in the league. 16 games in how many days? That's a pretty tough load. |

Decided to read what the Pittsburgh paper had to say about the game.
Only player quoted in the story was Craig Adams, their captain nowhere to be found in the piece.
Also, Dan Bylsma seems to have no clue how to prepare for a game:
"We got too emotional in the game, too involved with the extracurriculars down the line," Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said. "It took away from the game.
"That was something they needed, something they got involved in and got energy going their way. We knew it was a tactic they were going to use.
If you know it's coming (and you damn-well should after last spring) you might want to address it beforehand. Having a group of so-called tough players who are actually gutless pukes in (flimsy) disguise certainly isn't the answer (I'm looking at you, Tanner Glass and Derek Engelland).
Also, you might want to try to make adjustments during the game, like Laviolette did, taking away plays from behind the net later on in the game (Sutter's goal notwithstanding).
To their credit, the Pens fans who commented on the story were all taking their team to task, not female doging about the Flyers.

I doubt any goalie is a .920 guy in Philly the way they play D sometimes - eayost
I saw a lot of hasek and he could do it even with a high school team around him. Wait... That's what he had in buffalo. Lol |

I did acknowledge that Bryzgalov's stint in Phoenix inflated his career numbers. - bradleyc4
I agree, but if he can save 91.5% of shots as a Flyer, that's the equivalent of a .920 SV% in Phoenix, IMO |

Hasek is a generational talent on par with some of the most elite players of all time. No one is saying that's what Bryzgalov is. |

Anyone else hear the Consol Energy Center PA guy announce the Neal goal as being scored by "James "The Real Deal" Neal"?
How awful is that?
I swear when I heard that, I could practically smell the vinegar coming from my TV. - johndewar
I heard it. First thing I though, "Oh, great, now their going to WWE-ify hockey." |

Pierre McGuire called that an adjustment on the Flyers part on one play where the Flyers outnumbered the Pens behind their net. But that wasn't accurate. The Flyers made that change in how they play defensively about 3 weeks ago. |

Bring back Gary Thorne w/ Clement - bgratch
Love Clement, but not with Gary Thorne that much. On national broadcasts, Clement would overdo the anti-Flyers bias to ensure he did not seem partial to them. Thorne, on the other hand, seemed to have five favorite teams: The Rangers, Red Wings, Avalanche, Devils, and Stars. Called their goals a little differently than others'.
Of course, it's been so long now I'd be willing to give him another shot at calling NHL hockey. He was very good in the other games I've seen him do since the NHL & ESPN parted ways.
Is there any announcer that most people can agree on? I can't think of any, or at least not at the national level. - NickTheKid87

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli was in the press box at Consol Energy Center, taking in the Flyers-Penguins contest. It wouldn't be all that unusual, except this is the second time he's personally scouted the Flyers on the road this season. He also attended their Jan. 22 loss to New Jersey. Chiarelli's Bruins are in Tampa Bay on Thursday.
The Bruins are reportedly in the market for a third-line winger who can chip in offensively. Boston has upwards of $10 million in cap space. The trade deadline is April 3. - nastyflyergirl
I wouldn't read to much into it. Teams always scouting other teams. These gm's talk to each other every single day. They know roughly who's Probaly available on each team. |

Since January 1 last season through yesterday game...
Bryz has a Gaa of 2.21 and a save% of .917 to go with 6 shut outs in 42 games played. |

Hasek but up at least a .930 SV% in 5 of his 9 seasons in Buffalo as well as a .920+ SV% 7 out of 9 seasons so, yeah he could have definitely hit the .920 mark in the Flyers' system. But he was one of the greatest goalies of all time. |

Fleury's at .909, Quick's at .916, Anderson at .915, Hiller at .917, Ward at .910, Howard at .916, Backstrom at .918 and Niemi's at .917 as well. - NickTheKid87
Fleury's percentage would be a lot lower if they didn't rest him last night. |

You don't think how a team plays defensively in front of a Goalie, affects his numbers. Regardless of how well he plays? - MJL
Of course it is, that's the main reason Brodeur is so good.
