I just see him as a very good #1 goalie. Something we have not had in my years as a Flyers fan. A career .914%...

To compare him to other goalies..

Marty Brodeur : .913%
Ryan Miller: .915%
Miikka Kiprusoff: .913%
Roberto Luongo: .919%
Henrik Lundqvist: .920%
Evgeni Nabokov: .912%
Kari Lehtonen: .915%
Carey Price: .916%
Sergei Bobrovsky: .908%

You can't just judge a goalie on stats. For example, Grant Fuhr was an excellent goalie, however his gaa and save % were usually in the middle of the pack because Edmonton played an uptempo, all offense style of play and only tightened up defensively in the playoffs.

Bryz will never put up the save percentage here that he did in Phoenix, because under Dave Tippet, Phoenix plays a defense first style while Philly plays a much more attack style.

Since the last lockout, here's a Flyers' goalie breakdown:

2006-07
Houle: 1 GP, .667 SV%, 30.00 GAA

2009-10
Duchesne: 1 GP, .750 SV%, 3.53 GAA

Is it wrong for me to have had mixed emotions on Sean Couturier last night? One really good partial breakaway and didn't really try to make a move. Plus it really looked like he gave up trying to win faceoffs. On the other hand, he successfully repeated shutting down and frustrating Malkin at even strength.
- SuperSchennBros

He frustrates me too. I'd keep him around if all he did his whole career was piss off Malkin.

Hasek also had guys like Gary Galley, Alexei Zhitnik, Jay McKee, Richard Smehlik, Jason Woolley on defense. Not really highschoolers...
- jak521

I was referring to the whole team in general. I still don't know how the hell buffalo couldn't win a cup with him in net. Just plain sad

You don't know hockey systems and there will be someone who will come along very soon and point that out to you.

Prepare...

Sorry, we were talking Thorne, Clement, ESPN2, etc. and I got John Buccigross' line, which he would say during hit highlights, stuck in my head.

This Is kind of a homer call living in buffalo area but having center ice and listening to a lot of out of town games I gotta say I think Rick jeannerette is gotta be the best. Has great voice, knowledge, and enthusiasm calling games.

i watched bylsma's press conf after the game, he did say they talked about it... a good deal.

flyers are so deep in their heads its crazy

Rinaldo and Couturier in particular are up in their heads. I am going to start calling Rinaldo "Horsefly" because he was buzzing and they were all swatting at him I'd say Rinaldo played his role to a T last night. Maybe his finest game as a Flyer, and he has had a few "finest games" lately. I really like they way he is playing and keeping himself in check when it is appropriate. Malkin must have bad dreams about Couturier (and Grossmann).

Heck the Pens didn't even have to deal with Hartnell last night, and they still went batpoop at times. Harts would have had a field day last night. Can't wait for the wookie to get back.

No update specifically on Read today but McGinn and Sestito skated today in Voorhees, so they're out for tonight (which would suggest Read is in).

rinaldo is friggin relentless
say what you want about him and his penalties but he really does seem to wear down teams throughout the course of a game, physically and mentally.

OMG he makes me want to stab my ears with an ice pick. His voice grates on me. Can't stand the Bruins and Pens broadcasters as well. Love the Rangers
