Im not a NYI fan, so I dont follow your organization that closely, but I find it strange that he wasnt even invited to training camp when he was putting up solid numbers in the AHL through the lockout. Its one thing to not make the team, but not to get invited to camp? I would personally feel slighted. Does anyone know why this happened? - Holy_Makinaw99
Because he had one goal, zero assists and had the worst plus/minus of any foroward/defenseman in the NHL over 55 games last year at the NHL level. One year of the "A" for a 20 year old kid isn't the end of the world. I doubt Nino's presence on the Isles keeps the puck out of their net more or helps the d-men play better. |

Come on my deal wasnt that one sided was it? lol
Nino wants out and it seems like you guys need some D. Apart from the obvious choices (Phaneuf, Gards, Rielly), which would you want? Komisarek is from NYI, the guy wants to come home. What if we ate some salary for you? - Holy_Makinaw99
ha. wait, you were serious?!? i legit thought you were joking around....
ya. no. awful trade offer. would NEVER happen. |

I thought his low stats were due to him playing small minutes on the 4th line? I agree that playing in the A isnt the end of the world, we kept Kadri down in the A for quite some time until he was ready. Not letting him try out (even if there is zero chance of making the team) would help boost his confidence though. Lets him know that management will continue to give him his shot at the big club. |

Mike Bossy, Pat Lafontaine, Bryan Trottier you would think a legacy would have started. Is this all because of bad management?

most agree the isles dropped the ball with him when it comes to him playing on the 4th line last season. yes, he picked up some experience and probably learned to be more physical and learn the defensive end of the game but overall it was a mistake. they werent going to repeat that mistake. they already said when he joins the team itll be top 2 lines, they clearly felt that between moulson, boyes, KO, and grabner that the top 2 lines were complete (in terms of wingers) therefore they didnt want to ruin his run in the AHL, have him maximum the experience and next year (or middle of this season) bring him up. |

A bit steep, 2 NHL ready players. Im cool with parting with Franson, hes a decent puck mover, and patient with a good shot from the point. As for Bozak, we are already pretty thin up the middle and losing him would hurt. Any trade involving Grabs, Bozak, or Kadri would have to involve a center coming back our way. - Holy_Makinaw99
How about Nino and Neilson for Bozak and Franson? |

Ill take Strome, you can keep Reinhart.
That being said, I cant tell if Strome is going to be the next Tyler Seguin, or the next Matt Stajan. |

It's not that much of an overpayment. I wouldn't do it just because I want to see what Nino can do but Nielsen(not Nelson, right?)for Bozak is more than fair he's actually a legitimate second line center and Franson for an unproven player with a bit of an attitude problem really isn't far fetched. With that said i still wouldn't do it. |

Guys, I live in Nassau County and I am trying to find where the game is on Optimum so I can record it, but I cannot find it. It only gives the NHLCI channel, but that's blacked out for sure. Anybody know the channel? - hscesq

Let's face it, Nino really has nothing to be worried about. He'll obviously get his chance since our top-six forward options are...well, there aren't many top-six forward options. If anyone should be asking, "What the heck?" it's Donovan. He was set to compete for a spot and they went out and signed three young D off of waivers at the 11th hour that pushed him three spots down on the depth chart...and then one was immediately signed to a three-year contract. - UIF
this is a really good point that kinda got swept under the rug. i was WAY more surprised that donovan didnt make the team than nino. although it was brief, he looked really good last season, i was almost sure he was a lock to be 3rd pairing dman this year. good for him to not make a stink about not being on the team (and having the isles pick up 3 new dmen) and rather use it as fuel to be as good as he could be.
speaking of which, im pretty sure both hickey and finley have been on the team for more than 30 days and can now be send to bridgeport without having the option of being returned to their teams... |

Please watch Nino a bit before trading him for Franson...and I don't mean last year's fourth-line Nino. I mean this year's much faster, more developed version. Trust me...if you're going to trade a player that has the exact skill sets our top-six is missing (size, good hands around the net especially during those mad scrambles that we never score on), at least bring back a similar skill set in return. |

Good for him? He got a shot in camp, didn't he? If so, he didn't make it. Nothing to argue about there. |

I think he's looked better since the ASG, which was shortly after camp. So yeah, maybe he is using it as fuel to be better. |
