Simple truth is that firing Sullivan will not make the power play better. Only bringing some to do will make it better. - climbdenali12
Torts had one idea that Joe mentioned that is radical but I liked it. The one game with Milelr and Kreider clickign on the powerplay he said Torts told them not to play within any particular system. Just play and use your talent. Go. I kinda like that as a way to jump start things..
I mean it is obvious to pretty much anyone that knows the game. We do not great movement at all. The PK can sit in their 4 man box/diamond and that easily stops a stand still Powerplay. You gotta make the Pkers move and catch them out of position going back and forth trying to defend.
We just stand there. Guy at the point can create a cycle, skate towards one of the positions the wingers, the wingers rotate down low and so on and so forth. You either feed the winger whose moving or drop it off to the guy taking your spot. who should have options with the 4 man box rotating to compensate the point man rotating along to half boards. Just a simple cycle movement and you create chances. |

Dude, you are like the worst troll ever. If they had a troll draft, you would be lucky to get drafted in the 7th round. |

Hey Jan, great job as usual.
As i said in the last blog, i wont feel comfortable until i see a full 60mins from this team.
As far as the power play goes, they need more movement from the three players down low, And for god sakes just throw the puck at the net. - Bleedblue13
Agreed. But at times people call for a shot when clearly its gonna end up in the shin guards of the PKer playign the point. Gotta create shooting lanes. |

I actually think at this point, they should stop coaching the PP, and tell the guys to go out there an do whatever they want. It is not as if they can do much worse than 10%. |

He could however turn out to be Henrik Lundqvist. |

Didnt Keenan not Coach the PP in 94 & that unit was in the top 5 all yr if I recall. But Leetch & Zubov had a lot to do w that. |

They need to get more creative on the PP, and use their talent. If there is one downside about Torts, it's that he is too rigid and system based, and perhaps that inhibits the players from being effective on the PP. Just a theory. |

I think to be a troll on hockeybuzz, you should need to be certified. Have Crims teach a class, and if you doesn't certify that you have passed with satisfactory scores, you don't get to troll. Simple as that. |

Wouldn't you say the game against the Caps was a full 60 min effort?
Granted it was against the Caps, and wasn't a 7-0 blowout, but that was due to Holtby standing on his head, not lack of effort. |

Outside of Wayne most Devil fans on hb are pretty vanilla. Take themselves too seriously, to touchy on they're thread when others just come in to chat. |

That was a completely 60 minute effort. The first Boston game probably was as well, and the second Boston game was a great 58 1/2 minute effort. Indeed, that second Boston game was the best their best game of the season, if not for the two empty net goals.

Absolutely agree and felt the same way during that game.
Just looked like a couple of kids having fun and playing hockey and creating chances. Maybe it's just that Torts' system translates over too much to the PP, and it's drilled into the players heads to still be defensively responsible and prevent a SHG against, as opposed to attacking. |

That's exactly the issue. He's to set in his ways to change. That's why I would love to see an added coach come into help with the power play. |

You hit it on the head here. Take chances to put the puck in the net. Torts and as a byproduct the team, doesn't want to take chances for fear of giving up a chance. Its a 2 min perimeter passing drill. |

Gaborik needs to step up and have a big game tonight. He needs to bury the puck when he has an open net( which happens more often than not) and help this team get two points tonight. I'm sick of this sh!t. |
